In Marginalia Lipatan Waktu, Achmad Toriq presents a series of works that renders iconic robot and hero characters onto canvases crafted to resemble notebook pages. Drawing from childhood habits of doodling in school notebooks, the artist treats these works as personal time capsules: fragments of the past given new forms rather than reocnstructed with rigid precision.

In Meramu Sisa, residue lives on; present as itself, not as mere remains. Block of color sweep across—coexisting, meeting, brushing against each other. Gradations dissipate, bringing together disparate localities onto the same surface. Small dots scatter unevenly, dense on one side and sparse on the other.

Residue manifests both as pigment on paper and as powder and raw materials: soil, stone, soot, even eggshells. Nidiya Kusmaya compounds residues into a distinct language—from particles to dialogues between material and place, from what remains to what bears witness

Through this exhibition, I want the audience to see from my perspective the way I see plants.

Maybe, for some people, Trametes versicolor, commonly known as jamur ekor kalkun in Indonesian, or Aglaonema commutatum, also referred to as sri rejeki, are just ordinary fungi and plants that they might not even notice. But for me, it’s a form of beauty that asks for no attention. A form of resilience. A form of unconditional love—helping the ecosystem run and stay in balance without preaching.””
