A Magyar Cementlap Mentő Mozgalmat – The Hungarian Cement Tile Movement

30 év óta üzletemberként foglalkozom az antik cementlapokkal - mondhatom, hogy én voltam az első az országban. 23 éve a baranyai Erzsébeten megnyitottam a Magyar Cementlap Múzeumot. Annak köszönhető népszerűbbek kezdtek lenni a lapok, aztán jött is a konkurencia, sót egy-két cementlapgyártó is lépett a piacra. 2013-ban aláírtam egy szerződést a pesti Iparművészeti Múzeummal, hogy tartsunk majd egy nagy kiállítást náluk az Üllői úton. De előbb sajnos bezárták ‘ideiglenesen’ a múzeumot, így a szándék az maradt: szándék.
Most viszont az Iparművészeti Múzeum - a nagy örömömre - újra aktívan foglalkozik a témával. Így nemrég egy-egy workshopot rendeztek. Az elsőt a Petőfi Múzeumban februárban, amikor hallatunk a magyar cementlap történelméről, amikor én is előadhattam: a kis múzeumom történetéről. A második workshop nemrég Csepelen volt, ahol az Iamart manufaktúrájában láttuk, sőt: ki is próbálhattuk, hogyan készül egy terrazzo lap! Papíron persze tudtam ezt már, de saját kezűleg még soha nem csináltam!
A két workshopon jelenlevő cementlapos prófikkal/kedvelőkkel megbeszéltük: tartsunk össze, kezdjünk egy Magyar Cementlap Mentő Mozgalmat!
Következő lépés az lesz, hogy májusban Erzsébeten újra találkozunk a múzeumomnál, egy személyes, barátságos találkozáson! Folyt. köv.!
I have been dealing with and selling antique cement tiles for 30 years now – it is fair to say that I was the first in Hungary to do so. 23 years ago, I opened the Hungarian Tiles’ Museum in the village of Erzsébet.
Thanks to this, the tiles started to become more and more popular, then competitors arrived ont he market, and soon one or two new cement tile manufactories opened their doors. In 2013, I signed a preliminary contract with the renowned Museum of Applied Arts to hold a major exhibition there in Budapest. But then the museum was closed 'temporarily', due to its bad state, so the good intention remained just that. Now however, the (still homeless) Museum of Applied Arts is again actively dealing with the tiles’ topic – to my great pleasure.
Thus, they organized two workshops recently. The first one (in the Petőfi Museum in February) dealt with the history of the Hungarian cement tile, where I had the opportunity to give a lecture on the history of my little museum. The second workshop took place at the Iamart tiles’ manufactory in the outskirts of Budapest a short while ago. There we learned how a terrazzo tile is actually made. Of course, I already knew the theory of the manufacturing process, but I had never made a tile myself before!
We discussed with those present at the two workshops: let's start a Hungarian Cement Tile Movement! The next step will be to meet again for a picknick at my museum in Erzsébet in May! The show must go on!
