✨ The Collective is thrilled to be the principal artist of this year’s InnerGlow at Tai Kwun, presenting “Discotheque Dreams.” ✨

Step into a projection spectacle where light, movement, and music collide. This isn’t just a show — it’s an experience.

You’re no longer a passive observer. Your motion shapes the visuals. Your presence transforms the space. You might even find yourself becoming one of the virtual dancers lighting up the magnificent Barrack Block.

With live performers igniting the night and pushing the festive atmosphere to its peak, Discotheque Dreams blurs the line between reality and fantasy.

這是首個混合實體藝術與虛擬實景的藝術體驗。

這次創作我們與知名鉤針藝術家 Mulyana 和法國視覺藝術家 Frédéric Bussière 攜手合作，將鉤針藝術與混合實景完美結合。

🪸 想像一下色彩斑蘭的鉤針雕塑變成充滿生命力的的珊瑚礁，而混合實景技術把參加者帶到這奇幻的水底，一起體驗海洋生態「共生」的生命力。🐠

這個源自大自然「互惠共生」的生存智慧，融合了藝術、科學與科技；邀請大家欣賞自然界複雜而美麗的共生哲學。🐋 🐠 🐬 🦈 🪸🪼✨

✨ Flashback to “Symphilia XR” at BLUTOPIA 2023! ✨ “Symphilia” - The world’s 1st* location-based XR Art experience, combining physical crochet sculptures with cutting-edge Mixed Reality Art.

“Symphilia” was a collaborative endeavor uniting renowned Indonesian crochet artist Mulyana, French-Portuguese visual artist Frédéric Bussière & Hong Kong-based digital art studio, The Collective.

The Symphilia journey celebrates the ancient wisdom of mutualism, merging art, science, and technology to invite everyone to marvel at the beauty and complexity of nature, and embrace the cooperative spirit that connects us all. 🐋 🐠 🐬 🦈 🪸✨

We were thrilled to debut it at BLUTOPIA where it ran daily for 3 months to rave reviews from Audiences of all ages.

Our next XR experience will debut at A.L.AN’s upcoming “SUMATRA” exhibition this December at AIRSIDE. With new innovations, together with the latest hardware, the expanded XR experience will transport guests to the Leuser Eco-system in Indonesia to engage with the creatures of the rainforest.. We Look forward to welcoming you all again. 🌿🦏🐅🦧🌱

【Labyss記憶提存易】沉浸式體驗AI的記憶數碼化

開宗名義以「記憶」為題，結合裝置、劇場及人工智能科技，探討人工智能如何日漸影響及操控人類的生活和生命。當中的創作要點，是讓觀眾能夠「實時」體會AI對其記憶進行數碼化。

The Collective利用配合了香港背景的文本數據，微調ChatGPT模型，編寫能夠深入探尋觀眾記憶與感受的interview chatbot，讓其與觀眾進行實時溝通，再利用微調模型，輸出圖像生成式AI的提示詞，供Stream Diffusion生成實時的記憶影像。

在生成過程中調整參數，能使記憶影像由模糊逐漸變得清晰，並使用多組不同提示詞，讓記憶影像的變化更爲豐富。最後將所有觀眾的不同記憶，投放於180度的牆面，令觀眾在演出末段能夠沉浸感受AI的記憶數碼化。

is an installation performance that integrates theatre and AI aiming to explore how AI is increasingly affecting and controlling human life and existence. The Collective’s focus of this creation is how to enable the audience to experience the digitalization of their memories by AI in real-time.

The Collective fine-tuned the ChatGPT model using text data tailored to the Hong Kong context, creating an interview chatbot capable of deeply exploring the audience’s memories and feelings, allowing it to communicate with the audience in real-time.

The team then used the fine-tuned model’s output to generate prompts for image-generating AI with Stream Diffusion to produce real-time images of memories. Finally, the different memories of all audience members were projected onto a 180-degree wall, immersing the audience in the experience of AI’s digitalization of memory at the end of the performance.

【Labyss記憶提存易】從丹麥來港 內容在地化

透過人工智能與雲端儲存技術，永久保存使用者的記憶，由丹麥跨媒介藝團The Algorithmic Theatre創立，最近這間初創公司更在大館增設流動記憶中心，為大家服務。

如何讓AI的提問更貼合本土文化？胡偉寶為是次香港演出改編劇本，再由The Collective根據本地背景文化來創作粵語及英語版的聊天機器人，賦予其解釋及視覺化記憶的自主權，以豐富表演的敘事層次。

記憶，把夢境和現實融為一體，模糊真實與想像的界線。《Labyss記憶提存易》促使我們質疑記憶的重建和真實性，探索人類能在多大程度上，將個人敘述託付給AI。

我們如何利用人工智慧和大數據，解釋人類的記憶和情感？經AI處理過的記憶和影像，究竟保持著真實，還是演變為全新的東西？這次合作讓我們反思科技與人類之間的關係，探索記憶、身分以及我們與數碼世界之間的深度。

The Collective is delighted to not only localise the content, adopting Danish narratives into English and Cantonese for the HK context with local artist Vida Wu, but also to innovate in the way we use technology to enrich storytelling. By integrating Cantonese into the chatbot and granting it the autonomy to interpret and visualise memories, the creation deepens the narrative layers of the performance.

This project prompts us to question the reconstruction of our memories and their authenticity. Do the memories and images reconfigured by AI remain true to the experiencer, or do they morph into something entirely new?

A Reflection on Technology Where Reality Merges with Virtuality

今時今日，你還記得多少個電話號碼？過於依賴科技，或會導致數碼健忘。

利用人工智能儲存記憶，是由丹麥跨媒介藝團The Algorithmic Theatre創立的初創企業。專利研發的記憶學習軟件，能收集、掃描和重塑記憶，儲存雲端後，讓你隨時隨地透過聲音提取內容。

🔸人工智能提問

在「Labyss 記憶提存易」流動記憶中心內，表演者會向觀眾發問，問題由人工智能根據觀眾之前的答案提出，透過問答來提取記憶。演出源自丹麥，The Collective作為香港演出的創意夥伴，發展出人工智能粵語及英語版本及記憶處理房。完成儲存後，觀眾可走進記憶處理房，了解不能理解情感的人工智慧，如何解讀和視覺化人類記憶。

置身中心，觀眾或會感覺違和，明明在推銷高科技服務，環境卻相當低端，員工亦充滿情感⋯⋯反映出當中的矛盾：視解決數碼健忘為商機，同時又鼓勵大家依賴科技，充滿諷刺意味。

How many phone numbers do you still remember? Science has proven that over-reliance on technology may lead to digital amnesia.

utilizes AI to store memories. It is a startup company founded by the Danish cross-media art group, The Algorithmic Theatre. The patented memory learning software can collect, scan, and reshape your memories, then store them in the cloud. This allows you to retrieve the content through sound in the future.

🔸AI-generated Questions

At the “Labyss” memory collection centre, Labyss partners ask participants questions generated by AI based on their previous answers. Concept and production originated from Denmark, The Collective has localized the AI training with local context in Cantonese and English for the HK performance and developed the memory room. After memory storage, participants enter the memory room to understand how AI will interpret and visualize human memories.

At the centre, participants may sense inconsistencies. Despite promoting high-tech services, the environment is relatively low-key, and partners’ interactions are emotionally charged. This leads some to question: while viewing solving digital amnesia as a business opportunity, it paradoxically encourages greater reliance on technology, imbued with irony.

To preserve precious memories, ”Labyss“ is here for you. Through artificial intelligence and cloud storage technology, to permanently preserve and recall memories!

🔸Interactive performance where reality meets virtuality

Utilizing technology to retain memories and information, whether it‘s important dates or phone numbers, has long been a part of our daily lives. The Danish cross-media art group The Algorithmic Theatre conceived ”Labyss“ bringing together visual artists, playwrights, directors, dramaturges, programmers, and curators to establish a startup company dedicated to preserving memories, creating an installation interactive performance that combines installation, theater, and artificial intelligence technology.

The Collective is delighted to take part in the Hong Kong adaption in Tai Kwun, humorously explores how artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing and controlling human life and existence. When memories are digitized, uploaded, and permanently preserved, is this a remedy for forgetting, or a disregard for the human spirit?
