‘This time, I imagined a security guard who has been watching over Para Site for thirty years—like a ghost—haunting the exhibition space.’ 📺👁️🌀
Tianyi Zheng ()’s site-specific commission ‘A Station That Never Sleeps’ takes the form of an unmanned surveillance console assembled from office shelves and found objects worn down by the weight of time.
Developed in conversation with Para Site’s three-decade archive, the work draws on Zheng’s own passage through the institution—as a student visitor, an intern, and now a practicing artist whose work probes the entangled relationship between urban space and the memory it holds.
Archival photographs and footage loop across the old monitors in fragments: glitched, distorted, recurring. As visitors pass before the installation, each step folds into a sequence already in motion—one that accumulates, flickering, beyond its original parameters and into something it is still becoming.
In eerie disquiet, a guard never clocked out; hauntingly, history is making itself.
On view now at Site-seeing until Sun 14 Jun 2026.
