‘This time, I imagined a security guard who has been watching over Para Site for thirty years—like a ghost—haunting the exhibition space.’ 📺👁️🌀

Tianyi Zheng ()’s site-specific commission ‘A Station That Never Sleeps’ takes the form of an unmanned surveillance console assembled from office shelves and found objects worn down by the weight of time.

Developed in conversation with Para Site’s three-decade archive, the work draws on Zheng’s own passage through the institution—as a student visitor, an intern, and now a practicing artist whose work probes the entangled relationship between urban space and the memory it holds.

Archival photographs and footage loop across the old monitors in fragments: glitched, distorted, recurring. As visitors pass before the installation, each step folds into a sequence already in motion—one that accumulates, flickering, beyond its original parameters and into something it is still becoming.

In eerie disquiet, a guard never clocked out; hauntingly, history is making itself.

On view now at Site-seeing until Sun 14 Jun 2026.

‘Often, entire eras are compressed into books and historical archives. And sometimes, an era gets strangely pushed onto a stage, and a parallel version creates another layer.’ 🎮👾🔁

Using the visual language of video games, GIFs, and digital media, Nawin Nuthong (Nawin Nuthong) explores how cultural memory is made—not fixed, but constantly updated, circulated, and re‑animated through everyday city life.

Evoking the architecture of a cityscape, Nuthong presents three video works across a structured surface. Comprising looping scenes that draw on history, folklore, and pop cultural references, the projected GIFs combine to form a restless ‘screen-scape’—mirroring how news, myths, and personal memories all compete on the same visual plane.

On view now at Site-seeing until Sun 14 Jun 2026.

Something is stirring across the city! As part of Para Site’s thirtieth-anniversary celebrations, we are excited to introduce ‘Elsewhere in Me’—a new series of four live performance commissions unfolding across Hong Kong over the next six months.

Inspired by the organisation’s evolving identities and generations of artists who have navigated the shifting local landscape since 1996, the series explores what can emerge from the act of finding one’s way.

Four artists, four wayfinders:

🐚Yim Sui Fong (Yim Sui Fong) revisits the site where Para Site was founded, transforming personal narratives and expressive impulses into resonant sound.

📍River Lin (River Lin) maps week-long encounters across the city, blending private and public realms into unexpected everyday moments.

🪾Tong Wenmin (童文敏) gathers earth and botanical traces from the city, using voice and movement to assemble a collective ritual.

🐙Justin Talpalcido Shoulder () pays tribute to local water deities through a q***r lens, attuning us to hidden organisms and living networks.

From June to December 2026, they’ll turn streets and corners into portals for embodying new ways of moving, connecting, and finding meaning. ‘Elsewhere in Me’ is not to be found elsewhere, it’s right here, in our common ground.

🔗Free and open to all—stay tuned for dates & locations!

Curated by Celia Ho (Esther Celia) and Jessie Kwok (Jessie Kwok).

‘I want to capture that urban moment of being blinded by the sun reflected from the face of a skyscraper. A moment of a powerful reminder of the planetary relationship we exist within.’ 🪞🌇

What if a skyscraper no longer stood upright but cantilevered horizontally on its side, freed from gravity? Stella Zhong ()’s commissioned installation ‘Warp Until Fearless’, brings this vision to life.

The glaring reflections act like artificial sun, momentarily blinding anyone who steps before them. Walk past the glare, small geometric and organic forms emerge across the glass slope—debris, molecules, or fragments from another world, shifting between stillness and action.

Drawing from Zhong’s experiences in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Jakarta, the work speaks to cities shaped by rapid transformation, where time feels warped and architecture constantly reinvents itself across different landscapes.

On view now at ‘Site-seeing’ until Sun 14 Jun 2026.

A camel wanders. A voice drifts. 🐫🌀

Covey Gong ()’s ‘After the World’ shows an unnamed protagonist leading a camel through an unnamed city — past abandoned buildings and glass-clad, high-rise skyscrapers through a landscape shaped by different temporalities and rapid development.

In the film, fantasy and desire bleed into everyday life, fueled by spectacles and mediated images that fill public space. But an introspective voice haunts the frame, naming personal and collective anxieties: displacement, alienation, fragmentation.

The wandering camel becomes a symbol of the gap between our dreamed worlds and the socio-economic realities that undergird them.

A poignant, deep meditation on second‑tier cities, torn between rapid globalisation and the fragile self.

On view now at ‘Site-seeing’ until Sun 14 Jun 2026.
