This November, artists Imelda M. and Frances de Saint Germain present The Sea of Trees, a collaborative exhibition that weaves together the vastness of rolling forests and the limitless expanse of the ocean through shared tones of green and blue.
Imelda M. creates fine art in wood, shaping precise geometric lines and symmetrical forms into intricatemosaics and dimensional sculptures. In the grain and form of each piece, the work evokes endless forest canopies alongside the rhythmic movement of waves and tides. The process of cutting, reassembling, and renewing the material mirrors natural cycles of harvest and regrowth - trees fall, forests regenerate; tides retreat and return.
Frances de Saint Germain contributes abstract photographs of the undersides of boat hulls. These hidden marine surfaces become dreamlike landscapes of texture and colour, where organic curves and weathered layers suggest both underwater depths and forest-like forms.
Together, the artists explore interconnected themes of memory, resilience, and regeneration.
The Sea of Trees invites viewers to see the ocean within the wood and the forest within the waves - two boundless realms in constant renewal.
