【A Tale of East-West Gardens 畫作中的園林夢】
In the 18th century, Europe was captivated by “Chinoiserie” gardens, and a love of Chinese plants began to bloom. As part of the programme of the exhibition “Blooming: The Art of Gardens in East and West”, the HKMoA has invited Associate Professor Wang Lianming to reveal a cross-cultural story of garden exchange between the Catholic Church in Beijing and European botanical gardens through a giant painting housed at the National Library of France.

“Chirp…chirp…chirp…” Delightful tweeting fills the dawn air, welcoming the arrival of summer. The vitality of the season is also blooming in our exhibition! Birds soar, perch on branches, or dance among flowers across different fans. Thick and light, layered and refined, playful and peaceful, every brushstroke celebrates the vibrancy of summer.

Join our “birdwatching party” at the “Fantastic Breeze: Selected Fans from the Jingguanlou Collection” exhibition! Look closely at our charming feathered friends and rediscover the beauty you may have overlooked in your daily encounters.

【Venetian clouds in puddles 威尼斯水裡有雲】
As summer begins, gentle showers drift in. On your daily commute, have you quietly observed the reflections in the puddles left by the rain?
Currently on view in Venice, the exhibition “Fermata: Hong Kong in Venice” begins in the courtyard with artist Kingsley Ng’s installation 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴, 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘶𝘥𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴. Creating a poetic encounter with a shimmering drizzle and reflected clouds, this work casts light on often-overlooked moments in our daily lives, inviting viewers to find wonder and pause in moments of serendipity.

【A global style icon 風靡世界的時尚標桿】
“Proudly from Canton: The Muwen Tang Collection of Cantonese and Export Art” opens today!
During the 18th and 19th centuries, Guangdong was a vibrant epicentre where diverse arts converged—serving not only as a bustling trade hub, but also a major centre for export art, a bastion for imperial tributes, and even a global trendsetter. The exhibition features a selection of over 120 sets of treasures from Muwen Tang’s monumental donation, bringing together the pinnacle of more than ten types of craftsmanship while embodying the extraordinary ingenuity of our Cantonese forebears. This is a heartfelt gift from Muwen Tang to Hong Kong, as well as a continuation of our unique cultural heritage.
The exhibition opens on 2026.05.29.
「粵藝遠洋──沐文堂廣東及外銷藝術捐贈展」正式開幕！
18至19世紀廣東，匯聚了多元藝術的蓬勃脈搏──它既是繁榮的貿易樞紐，也是外銷工藝的重鎮、皇家貢品的基地，乃至國際風尚先鋒。展覽從沐文堂慷慨捐贈的珍品中，精選一百二十多組瑰寶，薈萃十多種工藝之最，凝聚廣東先輩的非凡匠心。這是沐文堂饋贈香港的心意，也是對這份獨特文化遺產的傳承。

【Roaming Islands: Residency with Ink 漫遊孤島，墨流當下】
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, do you long for a sanctuary for the soul? Inspired by the ancient art of ink rubbing, artist Ross Yau transforms the imagery of Hong Kong’s uninhabited islands into a circular installation, titled 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘐, allowing the audience to experience a journey of shifting scenery. He will be in residence at the “Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition” to share his creative journey and lead a hands-on experience in this deeply traditional and ritualistic technique. Through the rhythmic flow of ink, slow down and rediscover a sense of calm and focus within the imprints of paper and ink.

【Weaving in Residence 竹織現場】
It is a special day to celebrate the love and companionship of mothers by introducing Inkgo Lam, upcoming resident artist at the “Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition”. Having apprenticed under a bamboo steamer master, Inkgo explores innovative applications of bamboo art in a contemporary context. Along her creative journey, her mother is both a capable assistant and an inspirational soulmate, offering support as resilient as bamboo fibres, sustaining the creation of the 𝘈𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸 series and each other piece.
Join Inkgo during her residency for sharing sessions and bamboo steamer demonstrations. Let's witness the focus and warmth interwoven within this artistic heritage.
