3812 Gallery

3812 Gallery 3812 Gallery is dedicated to fostering cultural understanding of Chinese contemporary art with "Eastern Origin and Contemporary Expression".

3812 Gallery was named after the co-founders were inspired by the infamous La Vallรฉe Blanche at an altitude of 3812 meters while skiing in Chamonix in the Alps. Looking back at the past ten years, 3812 Gallery has been deeply rooted in Hong Kong. It always adhered to courage and perseverance to take on different challenges. Co-founded by Hui and Mark Peaker in Hong Kong in 2011, 3812 Gallery is re

cognized as the city's foremost gallery dealing in Chinese contemporary art as well as an agent for the post-war Chinese abstract art master Hsiao Chin. The gallery actively promotes contemporary ink art in the international market. Launching 3812 Gallery firmly onto the international stage, in 2018 it opened the new flagship space, 3812 Gallery London, in the exclusive St James' arts district. Coinciding with the 3812 Gallery's 10th anniversary in 2021, it opened a brand new 3,600 square feet space to expand into a new cultural and artistic landscape as the foremost international gallery in Hong Kong. The gallery will also exclusively represent three Modern British artist estates โ€“ Francis Davison, Terry Frost and Albert Irvin in Asia, and have five outstanding Hong Kong contemporary ink artists โ€“ Chui Pui Chee, Chloe Ho, Kassia Ko, Raymond Fung and Victor Wong to join, establishing the gallery's vision to develop into an international gallery.

3812 Gallery is dedicated to fostering cultural understanding of Chinese contemporary art with "Eastern Origin and Contemporary Expression". We strive for establishing international dialogue and exchanges by uniting artists, academics, collectors and the general public through our thoughtfully curated art programme. We believe that this sharing of cultural identity is essential in the understanding and appreciation of Chinese contemporary art.

3812 Gallery London is delighted to present โ€œUtopian Landโ€, a three-men exhibition in our basement salon, furthering the quiet dialogues across geographies and psychic states initiated by the โ€œA Dystopian Dreamโ€ solo exhibition by Shang Chengxiang on the ground floor. It will be on view at our London gallery from 1 May to 14 June 2026.

โ€œUtopian Landโ€ offers a companionโ€”not as a simple opposite, but as a more fragile, introspective counterpoint.

This three-men exhibition brings together Curtis Chan (b.1989) (), Shang Chengxiang (b.1985) (), and Thomas Ngan (b.1995) (.n.art)โ€”artists who approach the idea of utopia not as a perfected destination, but as a space of longing, memory, invisibility, and unresolved emotion. Chan constructs dreamlike, mismatched landscapes born from travel and nostalgia. Shang builds emotional thresholds between the real and the imagined. Ngan attends to the invisibleโ€”love, grace, lightโ€”through leaves, florals, and painterly texture.

Join us at 3812 Gallery London for a contemplative journey that crosses dream and reality, illusion, disillusion, loss and clarity. We hope โ€œUtopian Landโ€ could slow you down, to dwell in the in-between, and to encounter utopia not as an answer, but as a feeling.

โ€œA Dystopian Dream,โ€ the first UK solo exhibition of Shang Chengxiang (b. 1985, Shenyang, China) , will soon be presented by 3812 Gallery London, with the opening reception taking place tomorrow (1 May), from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The carefully curated works allude to fragments of reality, yet are rendered in an almost imperceptible and elusive manner. Transcending the boundaries of the real, they invite viewers into a space suspended between familiarity, illusion, and reverie. The scenes depictedโ€”drawn from the ordinary and the everydayโ€”are far from arbitrary; rather, they act as vessels for states of awareness that remain difficult to grasp in daily life, and for emotions that resist articulation.

As the artist remarks, โ€œMy questions about existence, emotion, and meaning continue to linger at the depths of my heart. I can only persist in turning inward through painting, searching across different dimensions in an attempt to restore a more complete self.โ€

As KunstRAI unfolds, 3812 Gallery is delighted to present contemporary ink paintings by Raymond Fung (b. 1952) and Chloe Ho (b. 1987), paying a tribute to the enduring legacy of Chinese ink painting. Through expressive monochromatic brushwork, their works evoke poetic and lyrical sensibilities, reinterpreted with a contemporary sense of movement and drama and colour palettes.

Hong Kongโ€™s distinctive cultural identity is brought into focus through anothermountainmanโ€™s (b. 1960) iconic red-white-blue seriesโ€”works that resonate not only with local audiences, but also with global viewers through layered cultural references.

While we have concluded our debut Artist Residency Programme in London, it has left a lasting imprint and become the talk of the town in The Whiteley neighbourhood. We are delighted to share with you an engaging documentary, retracing the East-meets-West artistic journey through the lens of our debut artist, Thomas Ngan (.n.art), continuing the narrative.

The artist residency programme is designed to foster meaningful cultural dialogue by connecting Asian artists with global counterparts and wider international audiences, creating a dynamic platform for cross-cultural engagement.

Reflecting on the one-and-a-half-month residency in our London gallery, and absorbing the cultural and artistic legacies shaped by masters from past to present, Ngan says: โ€œBecause this is the place where many painters were born and raised, you come here to be humbledโ€”to focus and learn.โ€

Continuing to captivate audiences, Ngan works will be showcased at our London gallery from 1 May to 16 June, and at our booth at KunstRAI 2026 from 22 to 26 April in Amsterdam.

3812 Gallery is delighted to participate in KunstRAI 2026 () in Amsterdam, presenting the exceptional works of nine distinguished Hong Kong artists across generations: Raymond Fung (b. 1952), anothermountainman (b. 1960), Chloe Ho (b. 1987), Curtis Chan (b. 1989), Eric Lai Wai Lam (b. 1990), Kwan Yung Yee (b. 1991), Joanne Chan (b. 1992), Thomas Ngan (b. 1995), and Gladys Ng (b. 1998). Together, their practices reflect the depth, diversity, and evolving spirit of Hong Kongโ€™s artistic landscape.

At the Modern booth, we are proud to present Raymond Fung and Chloe Hoโ€™s contemporary ink artworks, which reinterpret the traditional medium through distinctly modern lenses. Their works transcend conventional ink painting by integrating conceptual depth with refined technique, creating poetic visual narratives that bridge heritage and contemporaneity. Alongside works by anothermountainman, the presentation highlights a modern aesthetic rooted in Hong Kongโ€™s cultural context while resonating with a global audience. In contrast, the Contemporary booth showcases a dynamic group of emerging talents, offering a visually engaging journey shaped by personal introspection, emotional nuance, and a sensitive appreciation of everyday beauty.

Illuminated Heart, a solo exhibition honouring the post-war master Hsiao Chin (1935โ€“2023), is currently on view at our London gallery at The Whiteley. Spanning seven decades of artistic evolution and spiritual inquiry, the works illuminate the essence of the โ€œNirvanaโ€™s Wonderful Mindโ€ to which he remained devoted throughout his life.

Rooted in Taoist and Zen Buddhist philosophy, his practice reflects a lifelong engagement with inner contemplation and humanityโ€™s relationship with the greater cosmos. โ€œChi,โ€ or vital energy, expressed through decisive brushstrokes and pulsating fields of colour, emerges as a central theme.

The exhibition presents rare masterpieces seldom seen on the market, including an early work from the โ€œHeart Sealโ€ series, which integrates Chinese ink traditions, the calligraphic form of his name โ€œๅ‹คโ€ (Chin), and a surrealist abstraction reminiscent of Joan Mirรณ.
