Roberta Boffo is an Italian artist, living in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. She has been an art lover and a passionate creator from an early age when designing for her mom’s knitting business, in Oderzo, a small town in the province of Treviso, Italy. Later on she moved to undertake studies in Chinese and Asian language and cultures at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, which brought her to Beijing, China. Here, she studied business and marketing at Capital Normal University of Beijing and started her career in the education field as a language and art educator and later as education director at an international school. Working with enthusiastic peers and children Roberta was able to further discover her talents and apply her skills to design highly artistic and creative learning environments for children, whilst exploring and polishing her techniques and artistry. With an extensive experience in early childhood education and a strong art background, Roberta now resides in Hong Kong, where she continues to produce her works, whilst collaborating with art institutions and the local community to spread the joy of art. As an artist, Roberta takes you on a journey into the world of zentangles and abstracts, which develop from her love for Kandinsky’s abstract expressionism and her passion for Chinese inks and calligraphy; her works have a strong personality, showcasing a unique and modern use of ink. Besides being an active ECE teacher, Roberta is also a producing artist and the founder of Roberta’s Art House (RAH), in Hong Kong. RAH is an art business concept that provides process-driven and interactive art workshops and programs for both adults and children.
Artistix is a child development program with art as a medium and the world as our canvas.
It is a program that thrives on children’s peculiarities and learning abilities, by approaching the world of art from their very own different perspectives, involving different types of intelligences, such as mathematical and logical, visual and linguistic, intra-personal and interpersonal, spatial, musical and bodily-kinesthetic intelligence.
Artistix presents itself as a platform where visual arts, science, literature, music and movement all come together in a system that promotes children’s intellectual learning.
Learning to observe, listen and understand; constructively questioning the world, producing ideas and presenting them are all essential for the development of children.
ARTISTIX – Philosophy & Value
Artistix promotes team building, yet encourages each child to find his or her own voice and become an independent, confident and proactive individual.
The Artistix program is based on the principle that a meaningful and rich process is fundamental to one’s ability to learn and comprehend. A meaningful and rich process is one that is memorable; one that children can speak of.
Artistix is a process-driven learning environment that currently offers the following activities:
• Art & Film;
Introducing art forms, artists and their styles and techniques by means of short Dilms and videos, which are used to stimulate critical and independent thinking skills and increase children’s imagination and own creativity, as well as train listening and comprehension skills and broaden their vocabulary.
• Art & Literature;
Studying speciDic art concepts through imagery and texts, whilst mindfully observing and sharing opinions and improving reading skills.
• Art & Science;
Combining visual arts and science, by means of small experiments, which help children learn properties of mediums and understand how different materials react together. By observing, discovering and reDlecting children are encouraged to enquire, deduct conclusions and problem solve.
• Art & Craft Time;
After the three phases of study mentioned above, this is the stage of artwork production. During this time children receive guidance in achieving the lesson target, but they have creative freedom, such as deciding the artwork subject while they acquire a new art technique or style.
• Art & Language;
Talking about their artwork is an essential part of the children’s creative process; at this stage children can explain the details of their artwork, what, where, who, how and why. Children are then encouraged to present their artwork to teachers and peers and initiate an exchange of ideas and opinions. Children improve their presentation and communication skills, learning best how to express and convey their message; at the same time, this will be a time of bonding and socializing, building positive relationships with one another.
• Art & Music;
Integrating music and sounds into the art creative process, using it as a means to facilitate the comprehension and memorization of concepts, such as elements and principals of art.
• Art & Movement;
Using our bodies and body language to translate the message of our artwork and interacting with peers.
• Art & Exchange;
As we value diversity and inclusion, we will be collaborating with local artists and other experts in our community to occasionally offer special programs to our members.
