Isaac Chong Wai‘s works are now on view at the 7th Mardin Biennial - “SKYground” in Mardin, Turkey, running through 21 Jun 2026.

🚣‍♂️ In the project 𝙄 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙖 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣, Chong made a life-size boat out of segments of wire fences he cut out from a prison in Weimar. While the boat is made out of penetrable metal fences and is thus futile as a transportation vessel, the artist dragged it across the city of Weimar back to the prison, charting a fictional path between geographical mobility and escapist fantasy.

🟦 The paintings in the project depict fences with colored lines. By intentionally leaving lines missing, the artist transforms the representation of a fence into an object that addresses fragility and permeability.

Chen Wei’s works will be featured in GOLD‘s second exhibition by , ”𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞“, opening to the public this Saturday (6 June 2026)! 🦋

Curated by Shirley Lau and Tobias Berger, “the exhibition treats the algorithmic aesthetic of “dreamcore” not simply as subculture, but as a generational condition. Merging exhibition, concept store, and runway, dreamedcore explores how a new generation reshapes visual culture from internet nostalgia and atmospheric tones through fluid media.” — Serakai Studio 🌀

Works by Hao Jingban, Wang Tuo, and Jiang Zhi will be screening in 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁-𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 at M+ Cinema from 29-31 May 2026. 📽

Hao Jingban’s 𝙊𝙛𝙛 𝙏𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 (2016) is featured in the program ”Anwhere But Here“. The film weaves discarded footage from the artist‘s 𝘉𝘦𝘪𝘫𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 (2012–2016) with her personal voiceover as she reflects on her creative process, exploring the lives of Chinese ballroom dancers who were active from the 1950s to the post-Cultural Revolution 1970s and beyond. 💃🏻

𝙊𝙗𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 (2019) by Wang Tuo is presented in the program ”No Mere Construct: Architecture on Screen“. The film juxtaposes the Fusuijing Building—a socialist architectural landmark—with a hypnotherapy session, revealing subconscious chambers that mirror human desire. 🏬

With a fluid, ‘flying’ hand, Jiang Zhi’s 𝙁𝙡𝙮, 𝙁𝙡𝙮 (1997) navigates a cramped Beijing apartment and the monochrome reality of an artist struggling to break free from a precarious life.

Isaac Chong Wai's two-channel video 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚/𝙐𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 (2022) is currently on view in the group exhibition "𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗽" at Outside Art Space (外部空間) in Beijing, curated by Leo Li Chen. The exhibition will run through 19 Sep 2026. ⬆️

In Isaac’s 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦/𝘜𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, the double screens are installed vertically, juxtaposing comparable expressions: crying unemotionally, sobbing without tears, or wailing with eye drops, along with the decorative chains descending bit by bit from the eyes just as though a passage is paved for the teardrops. The segmented emotions embodied by acting, feelings, thoughts, and expressions infer the dialectical sorrow between the controllable and uncontrollable and the liminal state of performing and authenticity. 💧
