As This is M. Šašek enters its final month at Wyndham Social, our conversation expands from the artist's initial gaze into the lasting imprint he left behind.

Throughout September, our talk series brings together diplomats, publishers, researchers, and private collectors to unpack Šašek’s mid-century legacy. Across three panel discussions, we will trace his life journey from Czech émigré to world-renowned illustrator, uncover the editorial story behind translating 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑲𝒐𝒏𝒈 back into local memory, and explore the quiet joy of gathering rare first editions and mid-century paper archives.

Complementing these discussions on 27/F is our ongoing creative experience with . Designed as a self-guided studio space, visitors are invited to pause after the talks to engage directly with paper and ink, crafting personal urban keepsakes inspired by Šašek’s iconic travel series.

This August, we have specially curated a first wave of talk, workshop, and self-guided creative experience, inviting everyone to connect with this 20th-century illustration master's graphic world through dialogue and hands-on making 🗺️💭

Starting from Šašek's perspective, our talk will invite city experts to revisit how he interpreted and inspired later generations' observations of urban landscapes through the “𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔” series. Meanwhile, in our workshop and the ditto ditto self-guided creative experience, you can rediscover the different possibilities of recording everyday life through your own hands-on creation. These activities aim to transform the visual impact of the exhibition into tangible art, injecting fresh nourishment into everyday artistic experiences ✍️
