| Bamboo Steamers - Redefining Boundaries |
The bamboo steamer is one of the most recognisable objects in Cantonese culinary culture. Its form has remained unchanged: circular, stacked, and steaming atop a wok. Inkgo Lam (Inkgo Lam 林嘉裕 Bamboo Artist) challenges the conventions of a centuries-old craft through her creation, The Big Ben — a square bamboo steamer.

Through our Crafts Fellowship Programme, Inkgo has learnt the techniques of bamboo steamer making from Master Lui Ming — and now pushes the boundaries of what this humble kitchen staple can become. The work reimagines the steamer not merely as a functional vessel, but as a sculptural form — one that sparks a dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression.

竹蒸籠是廣東飲食文化中最具辨識度的器物之一。它的形態始終如一：圓形、層疊、架於鍋上。林嘉裕 Inkgo（Inkgo Lam 林嘉裕 Bamboo Artist）以作品《大笨鐘》—— 方形的竹蒸籠，挑戰傳統蒸籠的既定形態。

Inkgo 透過飄雅活藝「工藝研修計劃」向呂明師傅學習竹蒸籠製作技藝，陸續拓展這門傳統手藝的可能性，將蒸籠從功能器皿重新想像成雕塑，並展開傳統與當代之間的對話。

Over the past 2 weekends, we had the pleasure of hosting private guided tours as the first stop of the Immersive Cultural Walking Tour of Central, in collaboration with 🇭🇰HONG KONG D 阿金環遊香港100天🇭🇰. We hope everyone enjoyed learning about Crafts on Peel’s mission and work, and shared our passion in celebrating the exquisite craftsmanship of Hong Kong.

| Crafts on Peel at Homo Faber 2026 Panel Discussion “Investing In Our Future Heritage“ |

We’re beyond excited to share that our Creative Director, Penelope Luk, will be speaking at the Homo Faber Summit () in Venice on 18 September 2026, a premier international stage for contemporary craft. The summit invites 150 cross-sector and cross-boundary leaders who reimagine creation models that drive inclusive economic growth by human skills.

Alongside Eileen Akbaraly (E🐬leen), Zesty Meyers (Zesty Marc Meyers) & Stefano Micelli (Stefano Miceli), Penelope will exchange insights, best practices and vision with international delegates to elevate our collective impact, using Crafts on Peel’s previous incubations to illustrate how local cultural continuity can navigate global market pressures and mass production with the following key points - building the ecosystems that enables new creation and production, the power of storytelling around authenticity and originality, and the role of historic city centres as laboratories of the future.

| Cycle of Preservation — Kammy Wong at Homo Faber 2026 |

We are delighted to celebrate Cycle of Preservation, a new work by our Crafts Fellow Kammy Wong (SHAPING HERITAGE INTO NEW GROWTH 以傳承塑造新生), now on view in A ROOTED ASCENT at Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light (HOMO FABER) in Venice.

Supported by Crafts on Peel Foundation’s Craft Fellowship Grant, this piece preserves the form of a 25-year-old withered elm tree cultivated by Kammy’s late father, Master Wong Chau Shing. Kammy honours her father’s passion, dedication, and craftsmanship, and carries his legacy forward with grace and care.

慶賀工藝夥伴黃錦敏 Kammy（SHAPING HERITAGE INTO NEW GROWTH 以傳承塑造新生）的全新作品《Cycle of Preservation》，現正於威尼斯國際工藝雙年展 Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light（HOMO FABER）的 A ROOTED ASCENT 中展出。

在飄雅活藝基金會「工藝研修獎學金」的支持下，Kammy 的作品保存了一棵由已故父親黃就成師傅悉心照料二十五年的枯榆，她以此向父親對工藝的熱愛、心血與技藝致敬，昂然地延續其珍貴的工藝傳承。

We heard you and we are here to deliver! Following your enthusiastic response, the exclusive special event - private guided tour and galvanised iron craft demonstration - is welcoming registration for 12 September 3pm.

Followed by an in-depth guided tour of the exhibition, Naam Yu (Louud 摟打 | 白鐵工藝), who spent five years learning from traditional craft master Michael Yu (俞國強), will once again demonstrate the technique of galvanised iron crafting with the audience.

Congratulations to our Crafts Fellow Kammy Wong (SHAPING HERITAGE INTO NEW GROWTH 以傳承塑造新生) on being selected as one of the participating artisans at Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light (HOMO FABER). Supported by the Foundation’s Craft Fellowship Grant, she created a new artwork to showcase at Homo Faber 2026 in Venice.

恭賀我們的工藝夥伴黃錦敏 Kammy (SHAPING HERITAGE INTO NEW GROWTH 以傳承塑造新生) 獲選為 Homo Faber 2026 ”An Island of Light“ 的參展工藝師。在基金會「工藝研修獎學金」的支持下，她創作了一件全新作品於威尼斯國際工藝雙年展 Homo Faber 2026 展出。

| Celebrating our Crafts Fellow — Kammy Wong at Homo Faber 2026 |

Homo Faber is an international craft biennale held on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. It is organised by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship in partnership with Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte. The 2026 edition is curated by British artist and designer Es Devlin, who has developed 15 immersive installations that employ light to highlight the skills of craft artists from around the world.

於威尼斯聖佐治馬焦雷島舉辦的國際工藝雙年展 Homo Faber 2026，由米高安哲羅創意與手工藝基金會（Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship）聯同 Fondazione Giorgio Cini 及 Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d‘Arte 共同主辦。本屆由英國著名藝術家及設計師 Es Devlin 擔任策展人，以光為主題，透過十五個沉浸式裝置展示來自世界各地工藝師的精湛技藝。

Kammy Wong inherited the craft of Lingnan Penjing from her late father, Master Wong Chau Shing, through Crafts on Peel’s Crafts Fellowship Programme in 2024. This father-and-daughter collaboration embodies Crafts on Peel‘s core value — breathing new life into traditional crafts. Master Wong Chau Shing, with years of accumulated experience and wisdom, carefully planted and nurtured saplings symbolising new life, while Kammy, as his beloved daughter and apprentice, carries forward this time-honoured craft with the same unwavering devotion.

二零二四年，Kammy 參與飄雅活藝的「工藝研修計劃」，正式向父親黃就成師傅學藝。兩代人的工藝合作體現了飄雅活藝的核心價值——為傳統工藝注入新生命。黃就成師傅用其累積多年的經驗和智慧，細心地種下和培育一棵棵象徵新生命的

Thank you to everyone who joined our private guided tour and the hammer and chisel engraving demonstration!

Through Master Ng’s live demonstration, participants gained a closer look at the intricate techniques behind crafting exquisite patterns.

A huge thank you to Master Peter Ng (Graver HK) for hosting this inspiring session. His intense focus and profound devotion to chisel engraving offered participants an authentic look into the infinite possibilities of this traditional craft.

Crafts on Peel is honoured to introduce our Crafts Fellow pair: Master Cheung Kam Ping and his four apprentices — Tony Yeung, Patsy Cheng, Betsy Li, and Millie Chiu.

Bound by a passion for weaving modern contemporary context into traditional Guangcai (Canton Porcelain Painting), the Fellows gather at Crafts on Peel to exchange ideas and techniques, with five artistic creations debuting in our Autumn exhibition.

| Crafts on Peel Fellow Spotlight — Master Cheung Kam Ping x Tony Yeung / Patsy Cheng / Betsy Li / Millie Chiu |

Traditional Craftsman | Master Cheung Kam Ping
Master Cheung’s journey in the arts started when he was only 14 years old in Macau, where he studied under Master Szeto Hong during the lively 1960s. When he was 20, he moved to Hong Kong and improved his skills in porcelain factories before becoming a head painter in the 1980s. Whether in individual masterpieces or large-scale designs, he combines Western methods such as sketching, watercolour, and oil painting with the refinement of traditional Chinese art. Having devoted more than fifty years to Guangcai, his legacy is on display at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and has since been included in the museum‘s permanent collection. He is one of the very few remaining masters actively promoting Guangcai in Hong Kong today.

Through our Crafts Fellowship Programme, Master Cheung passes on his lifetime of experience to a new generation of apprentices to perpetuate the vibrancy of Guangcai.

傳統工藝師 | 張錦平師傅
張錦平師傅的藝術之路始於十四歲，在六十年代生氣蓬勃的澳門拜師司徒康門下。二十歲來港，於瓷廠磨練技藝，至八十年代成為升為主任畫師。無論是單件創作與量產設計，他都將素描、水彩、油畫等西洋技法與中國傳統藝術的細膩意韻融為一體。投身廣彩逾半世紀，其藝術成就現於香港文化博物館展示並納入博物館永久館藏。張師傅為香港現時極少數技術全面而仍活躍推廣廣彩的匠師。

透過我們的工藝研修計劃，張師傅將畢生經驗傳承予新一代學徒，讓廣彩的未來繼續煥發生機。

| Crafts on Peel Material Exchange Residency @ Royal Society of Sculptors - Galvanised Iron |

The first Crafts on Peel Material Exchange Residency will feature Galvanised Iron as the other material. We are pleased to announce Naam Yu (Louud 摟打 | 白鐵工藝) as our selected Crafts Fellow for a cross-cultural and -disciplinary exchange with a selected member-sculptor from the Royal Society of Sculptors (Royal Society of Sculptors).

Naam established Louud Galvanized Crafts in 2024, combining traditional and modern methods with innovative product design and offering workshops to bring galvanised iron back into the modern social context. He spent over five years mastering this intricate craft under the tutelage of Master Michael Yu. He leveraged his experience as a product designer to co-create the work with his mentor, effectively resolving complex structural and aesthetic limitations.

Through our Crafts Fellowship Programme, the two of them collaborated on the creation of “Galvanised Iron Sailboat”, a kinetic and interactive installation to narrate Hong Kong’s remarkable transformation from a humble fishing village into a charismatic international metropolis. The artwork is now on display in our space at 11 Peel Street.

| 飄雅活藝「物料交流駐留計劃」@ 英國皇家雕塑家學會——白鐵 |

首屆飄雅活藝「物料交流駐留計劃」所涵概的另一種物料則是白鐵。我們很高興公佈余兆枬阿 Naam（Louud 摟打 | 白鐵工藝）獲選為是次交流的工藝夥伴，與英國皇家雕塑家學會的雕塑家會員進行跨文化及跨領域交流。

阿 Naam 於二零二四年成立「摟打白鐵」，他結合傳統與現代技法，以創新的產品設計及工作坊致力活化白鐵工藝，並將之帶到當代文化生活。師從俞國強師傅超過五年的他，在掌握這門複雜工藝的精髓後，更運用其產品設計師的經驗與俞國強師傅合作，成功超越了各種結構與美學上的限制。

二人透過飄雅活藝的工藝研修計劃共同創作了《白鐵帆船裝置》。此互動式動態裝置作品訴說著香港從漁村蛻變成國際都會的壯麗歷程。作品現正於我們卑利街十一號的展覽空間中展出。

Dragon Mark Gold Leaf, a family-owned business in Hong Kong with over 45 years of expertise in the manufacturing and distribution of genuine gold leaf, has been the supplier for Cheung Lee Wood Carving & Gilding Works Co. since its establishment in 1976. One of the most significant collaborations between their families is the meticulous conservation of the iconic Forever Blooming Bauhinia Sculpture, located at Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai waterfront.
