Munsel Thangka School of Art (workshop)滿獅唐卡工作室 it is a page to share knowledge of thangka painting culture for all buddhist and non-buddhist, a pla Kim於2012年於香港開設滿獅唐卡藝術學院.

The first Munsel Thangka School of art & workshop was established by Kim Chong at Nepal, 2008 two years before she graduated from Tsering Art School. With the help of the chief artist, Kelsang choedak, the former teacher in Tsering art school. Munsel Thangka school has successfully trained wonderful artists from all around the world, including some nuns from Thrangu Monastery, and some Himalayan c

hildren. The reasons of making this school and workshop are, although Karma Gardi linage of painting is originated from karma Kagyu tradition, there was not yet a complete school of karma Gardi painting school in Kagyu Buddhism centers. In Asia, there are even not much people have knowledge of Thangka painting and the real meaning within. In order to keep this linage going on broadly, and inspired by the H.E Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, the principle of Tsering Art school. Whom want to keep this rare traditional and preserve this wonderful culture. In 2012, Munsel Thangka School of art& workshop will be open in Hong Hong for students who want to reveal this mysterious form of art.

Tara protects the welfare of all beings and those who are devoted to her are especially fortunate. There are innumerable manifestations of Tara, as many as beings require bringing protection, long life and peace, overcoming obstacles and saving beings from danger.
Once upon a time in legend, many eons ago during the time of Buddha Dundubhisvara, there lived a princess by the name of 'Moon of Wisdom-knowledge'. She was a very devoted disciple and would daily set out many offerings to the Buddha and his sangha. Eventually she generated bodhicitta, the aspiration to attain enlightenment, in order to help all living beings. Some bhikshus came to know of this, and urged her to dedicate the merits she had created to be reborn as a male. However, the princess rejected this advice, saying:
Here there is no man, there is no woman, no self, no person, and no consciousness. Labelling "male" or "female" has no essence but deceives the evil-minded world.
She went on to make the following vow:
"There are many who desire enlightenment in a man's body, but none who work for the benefit of sentient beings in the body of a woman. Therefore, until samsara is empty, I shall work for the benefit of sentient beings in a woman's body."
From that time onwards the princess dedicated herself to winning full and complete enlightenment. Once she accomplished that goal, she came to be known as Tara, the Liberator. And later tara became the feminine aspect of the bodhisattva of compassion, and the Mother of all the Buddhas. Happy mother’s day to all mothers.

I think these few years we deeply feeling a sense of powerlessness by those terrifying diseases coming from nowhere all in a sudden, all sorts of nature disasters, then when you think everything ease down a little, then unnecessary wars; massacres; economic collapse; unsettled people’s mind. To my insufficient knowledge, in uncontrollable factors or situation, dharma teachings and blessing is very beneficial of healing hearts. By unexpectedly good coincident, I met Dongsay Rinpoche and Pema Choda Rinpoche last year, which are a pure and wholehearted practitioner that becoming increasingly rare. In highly busy city life, dharma became like fast food, so call masters are giving teachings and empowerments like business, which is very unfortunate. In order to give my small contribution to the world, Munsel School support their one-week dharma activities including very special empowerments, a secret terton revealed recently specially for the benefits of the physical and mental disasters that happen “Now”. And during these dharma propagation programs, all the incomes will go for helping the East Bhutan, Shinkhar Choeling retreat center. By the virtue of these merits, we hope everyone is free from sufferings and well-being. And of course, world peace. ( for god sakes, stop the stupid wars!!)

Tashi delek my dearest dharma friends, all the sudden we are hoping into 2026 year , wow time flies. Sorry for the late update due to my inconvenience after eyes operation. To make the long story short, let me give my deep gratitude to my dearest lovely students who help cleaning the school in difficult super busy new year time, specially to Mua Mua, Pin Pin, Fa Fa, Faye Faye, BB and Man Man. Buddhas bless you guys. Moreover, I must greet everybody Happy Lunar and Tibetan New year. I guess you all quite saturated by great greetings from all over world, so my greeting became last and only, haha. For a power blessing and best purification, I want to share the following terma:
Padmakilaya
Padma Kilaya is founded in the text “the Pure Vision of the Continuous Cycle of the Sky-like Space”. The Dark Red Wrathful Kilaya with a garland of Fire.
It is revealed by Tertön Pegyal Lingpa in 1960., and where he discovered his famous Mind and Earth Treasure known as The Union of the Enlightened Intent of the Three Bodies (Kusum Gongdü) Padmakilaya is a emanation form of Guru Rinpoche. It was directly transmitted to Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche and is commonly practiced dispelling obstacles, often held in conjunction with Vajrakilaya before the Tibetan New Year. Power and Magnetizing: As part of the four bodies of Buddha, the red Padma Kilaya specifically works with the energy of fascination and magnetism, especially overcoming the deep-rooted obstacles, negativity, and karmic impediments; Transformation of negativity: The practice is designed to destroy ignorance, greed, and hostility, turning them into positive, awakened awareness; Gain spiritual protection: It offers profound protection against harmful influences, spirits, and negative forces; Merit and Wisdom Accumulation: Engaging in these rituals helps accumulate vast merit and wisdom.
Padmakilaya’s lower body often depicted a three-edged ritual dagger represents the severance of three poisons: ignorance, greed, and aggression. The sharp point symbolizes the pinning down of "demonic" forces or self ego distractions that hinder enlightenment. The upper wrathful dark red body symbolizing the power of magnetizing and subjugation of Padma family activities- transforming desire into discerning wisdom. He holds a five-pronged vajra (indestructibility) in his right hand and a scorpion in his left, represents the accomplishment and the power to transfix negativity. Padmakilaya cradled a Khatvanga (Trident) in the arm, its three points represent the three kayas (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya) and the union of bliss and emptiness. The garland of flames symbolizes the "fire of wisdom" that consumes all dualistic emotions and ignorance.

Dear everyone!! Long time no see, Merry Christmas! May each of you have the most wonderful moments, filled with happiness. This year has not been easy for many, with natural disasters, the shadow of war, and the departure of many great masters. Life is always filled with pain and challenges, so that’s why it is more important that we should learn to cherish the present and everything we have around us. Learning how to be happy and how to enjoy what we have in this moment is not only the essence of life but also the foundation of meditation and spiritual cultivation. I have always loved Christmas—it is the perfect excuse for us to express love to family and friends. Today, I want to share the teachings of two lovely deities who embody the warm colors of Christmas. Their light always brings endless warmth and inspiration.
Green Tara and Red Tara are highly revered female Buddhas in Tibetan Buddhism, each representing different compassionate endeavors. Green Tara is known as the "action hero," symbolizing protection, overcoming obstacles, healing, and growth. Her presence is like an unstoppable force, bringing vitality and liberation. Red Tara, on the other hand, focuses on attracting, controlling, and magnetizing all that is beautiful—love, power, and prosperity. Her energy is closely tied to desire and passion, but note that it is mainly for spiritual aims instead of selfish desire purposes.
Their appearances and essences also have distinct differences: Green Tara is as gentle as a mother and as pure as a maiden, while Red Tara embodies a more intense, powerful, and profound energy, igniting the deepest passions and yearnings within us.
This Christmas, may the compassion and wisdom of Green Tara and Red Tara illuminate our hearts, may your every day be filled with warmth and light!

When disasters both natural or man-made strike with unimaginable cruelty, human power feels utterly insignificant. It’s in these moments that we’re jolted into remembering how fragile life truly is. With hearts heavily with grief, we mourn the lives lost in the Tai Po Wang F*k Court fire. May the departed find peace and liberation from suffering, and may their grieving families soon granted strength, comfort, and peace

Moon
Chandra is the god of the moon and belongs to a broad Indian cultural context. He is found in all Indian religious traditions. The chariot of Moon god Chandra, which is white in colour, is drawn by seven white geese and the god Surya, red in colour, drawn by seven horses.
In Tibetan Buddhism the god Chandra is rarely if ever depicted as a central figure alone or at the center of a mandala. However, he can be found as an emanation in depictions of Shristhikantha Lokeshvara according to the descriptions in the Karandavyuha Sutra, there are nine main Hindu gods arising from the body of Lokeshvara, the moon god is one of it. Chandra is generally only found as a retinue deity in various mandalas of the Charya and Yoga Ta**ra classifications and as a trampled deity under the feet of Vajrabhairava and other Yoga-niruttara Ta**ra meditational deities. In the Karandavyuha Sutra.
However, The moon is one of the most important symbols in Tibetan Buddhism. The calendar is based on the cycles of the moon and is composed of either 12 or 13 lunar months, each beginning and ending with a new moon. A thirteenth month is added approximately every three years. In Tibetan Buddhism there are certain rituals like the taking of vows, self-initiation and the making offerings that should be practiced on the full and new moon days. They are considered very auspicious days.
The moon has long been a source of mystery, magic, and divine energy. Considering the celestial orb impacts the tides, the agriculture, and perhaps, us, it’s not surprising that it’s captivated us for so long. And, because of this, for thousands of years, many cultures have worshiped Moon gods and goddesses around the world.Today, we think mostly of the connection between the moon and women, and female lunar deities such as Artemis and Hecate, but many of the earliest known lunar gods were male, including those from Mesopotamia, from where we have the first historical record of magic.
The moon festival is Chinese thanks giving festival. It is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night. On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its fullest and brightest, coinciding with the time of harvest in the middle of autumn. It is one of the most important holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture that celebrates over 3,000 years. During the festival, lanterns of all sizes and shapes – symbolizing beacons that light the path toward prosperity and good fortune for the people – are carried and displayed. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet paste, are eaten during this festival symbolize unity, completeness and family reunion, togetherness, harmony and the expression of blessings and love. Happy moon festival, everyone love love xx

The Tibetan Astrological Diagram (8)
This is the final teaching about the astrological diagram. The Tibetan astrological tortoise diagram is not actually used for divinatory purpose. Although it contains the main components used for astrological calculation. It contains a large number of other diagrams, charts and complex calculators fashioned from rotating dials to fulfills purposes. However, the main function of the diagram is to act as a very powerful amulet for protection against all astrological and spirit of afflictions. It is frequently hung on doorways to protect a building of or homestead from evil spirits. Also, to create auspicious circumstances it is prominently displayed at major events or transition such as birth, marriage, moving or building house, illness and death. Tibetan astrology is an extremely profound metaphysical science, and to assume that one can derive much insight from simply knowing the qualities of the twelve animal signs. You can imagine the full astrology system is a huge knowledge that requires many years study. It is said that in learning the science of Tibetan medicine all students must undergo a thorough basic training in the principle of Tibetan astrology. On the coming day, I want to share more study of some astrological symbols, that will be quite interesting.
