CHRYSSA
Pioneer of light and language.

Chryssa Vardea-Mavromichali was one of the most distinctive voices of the post-war avant-garde, known for transforming signs, symbols and urban language into a radical visual vocabulary.

Inspired by the energy of the modern city from illuminated advertisements to typography and fragmented communication her work explored the relationship between light, space, repetition and perception.

Today, Chryssa is recognised as a pioneering figure whose practice helped redefine the boundaries between sculpture, language and the urban environment.
