Over the past few months, I have received almost daily messages from people who would like to visit the gallery. The first question is often the same:

“What is the entrance fee?”

The answer is simple.

Galleries do not charge admission. Museums do. Galleries are places of encounter, conversation and discovery.

That is exactly why the Art of Middle-earth Gallery was created.

It was never built as a sales space. It was built as a place for stories.

Stories inspired by Tolkien, mythology, art, memory, and ultimately the human experience itself.

Visitors are often surprised to discover that there are no QR codes beneath the paintings and no pressure to purchase anything. Instead, they find original artworks, rare editions, personal collections, and conversations that frequently travel far beyond Middle-earth.

Yes, a small number of highly collectible prints can only be viewed here. Not because they are sold exclusively at the gallery, but because some things deserve to be experienced in person. To see the detail. To compare the quality. To understand the difference between an image on a screen and a work of art standing before you.

All purchases continue through my website, exactly as they did before the gallery existed.

Some may wonder:

“Was it worth creating a space like this?”

If my goal had been purely commercial, probably not. I would have opened somewhere more central, with greater visibility and a very different approach.

But that was never the vision.

I am not interested in people finding the gallery.

I am interested in them discovering it.

And within its walls, discovering something more than paintings.

That is why visits are by appointment only.

Because every visit is personal.

And because the real treasure of this place does not hang on the walls.

It lives within the stories that continue to be shared here.

We continue.

Balin's Tomb

They found his tomb long after his voice had fallen silent.

Balin, son of Fundin, had returned to Moria seeking to restore a kingdom lost to memory. For a brief time, the halls echoed once more with the labour and hope of Durin's folk. Then came silence.

A single shaft of light descends upon the stone, illuminating a name that endured even after the kingdom around it had passed into darkness. Few scenes in The Lord of the Rings carry such stillness, where loss is felt not through battle, but through what remains behind.

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from the world of fantasy literature to the gallery, the team from The Fantasy Hive.

We spent the morning discussing myths, memory, storytelling and what remains after stories end.

Not a conversation about paintings.

A conversation about why stories matter.

Thank you for the visit, the questions and the wonderful exchange of ideas.

Another story to remember.

In Gοllum's Cave - Lord of the rings limited print

Alone beneath the roots of the mountains, he inhabited a world untouched by sunlight, measured only by darkness, cold water, and the passing of unseen years. The vast cavern seems almost indifferent to his presence, swallowing sound, distance, and time alike.

In Tolkien's pages, Gollum is not introduced as a monster emerging from the shadows, but as a solitary creature who has become part of them. A figure suspended between memory and oblivion, waiting in the silence of the deep places of the earth.

Weight of Stillness

Some paintings arrive quietly.

This one waited.

Painted in January and left unseen for months, Weight of Stillness remained in the studio while the gallery, the new website and countless other projects took shape around it.

Looking at it today, I realize it carries something unexpected.

Not only the silence of the figure, but the silence of an entire chapter coming to an end.

For more than a decade, small-scale paintings were an essential part of my journey. They travelled across the world, found homes in hundreds of collections and allowed many people to begin their journey as collectors.

This painting will likely be the last work of that chapter.

Not because I value small paintings less, but because my work is now moving toward larger canvases, broader narratives and a different way of building images.

So in an unexpected way, Weight of Stillness became exactly what its title suggests:

A pause between what was and what comes next.

🎨 Spiros Gelekas - Art of Middle Earth

Η Art of Middle-Earth Gallery
