Το Μουσείο συμμετείχε στο Φεστιβάλ του Δήμου Αθηναίων Δήμος Αθηναίων This is Athens - City Festival με ένα δωρεάν εργαστήριο για παιδιά 7-11 ετών με τίτλο «Μελετώντας, με τον Jeff Koons, την ανθρώπινη φιγούρα: Κοχύλια και Λάμψη. Μια Σύγχρονη Αφροδίτη!»

Το εργαστήριο άντλησε έμπνευση από τη διαχρονική μορφή της «Αφροδίτης», ξεκινώντας από την παλαιολιθική «Αφροδίτη του Lespugue» έως τη σύγχρονη, εμβληματική και αστραφτερή εκδοχή του Jeff Koons. Μέσα από μια βιωματική διαδικασία, τα παιδιά εξερεύνησαν την έννοια του όγκου, της υφής και της μεταμόρφωσης στην τέχνη.

Τα παιδιά δημιούργησαν τρισδιάστατες συνθέσεις από κοχύλια, τις οποίες θα μεταμορφώσουν σε σύγχρονα, λαμπερά γλυπτά. Μέσα από το παιχνίδι και τον πειραματισμό, το εργαστήριο συνέδεσε την προϊστορική τέχνη με τη σύγχρονη δημιουργία, ενθαρρύνοντας τη φαντασία και την ελεύθερη έκφραση.

Το εργαστήριο πραγματοποιήθηκε από την Εικαστικό – Μουσειοπαιδαγωγό Βίβιαν Εμμανουηλίδου και την Παιδαγωγό Μάγδα Αθανασίου.

The Museum participated in the This is Athens City Festival, organized by the Municipality of Athens, with a free workshop for children aged 7–11 titled “Studying the Human Figure with Jeff Koons: Shells and Shine. A Contemporary Venus!”

The workshop drew inspiration from the timeless figure of Venus, beginning with the Paleolithic Venus of Lespugue and extending to Jeff Koons’s contemporary, iconic, and gleaming interpretation. Through a hands-on creative process, the children explored the concepts of volume, texture, and transformation in art.

The children created three-dimensional compositions using seashells, which they then transformed into contemporary, luminous sculptures. Through play and experimentation, the workshop connected prehistoric art with contemporary artistic creation, encouraging imagination and free expression.

The workshop was led by visual artist and museum educator Vivian Emmanouilidou and educator Magda Athanasiou.

✨Το Cycladic Late Night όπως το ζήσαμε μαζί!
Ήταν μια μοναδική βραδιά στην έκθεση “Jeff Koons: ‘Αφροδίτη’ του Lespugue” με live μουσικά performances στους χώρους του Μεγάρου Σταθάτου.

Η Venus Volcanism Rena Rasouli δημιούργησε ένα καθηλωτικό ηχητικό τοπίο μέσα από την ερμηνεία της και τα visuals της Jannete Mark, οι Anna Vs June & Jan Van de Engel παρουσίασαν ένα δυναμικό έργο με κρουστά, φωνή και live sampling, ενώ η OKO DJ έκλεισε τη βραδιά με ένα DJ set που κράτησε τον παλμό ζωντανό μέχρι το τέλος.
Σε συνεργασία με την Deafvest οι επισκέπτες βίωσαν τη μουσική μέσα από τις δονήσεις, σε μια προσβάσιμη εμπειρία για όλους.

Thank you all for joining us for another Cycladic Late Night.
It was a truly special evening at the exhibition “Jeff Koons: ‘Venus’ Lespugue” featuring live music performances throughout the Stathatos Mansion.

Venus Volcanism created an atmospheric soundscape through her performance, while the visuals by Jannete Mark added another layer to the experience. Anna vs June and Jan Van Angelopoulos presented a dynamic work combining percussion, voice, and live sampling, and OKO DJ closed the evening with a DJ set that kept the energy alive until the very end.

In collaboration with deafVest, visitors experienced the music through vibrations, creating an accessible and inclusive experience for everyone.

Η τελευταία συνάντηση των «Λεσχών Φιλίας στο Μουσείο» πριν από την καλοκαιρινή περίοδο ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία και οι δράσεις θα συνεχιστούν από τον Σεπτέμβριο.

Το Μουσείο υποδέχεται κάθε εβδομάδα μία ομάδα Λέσχης Φιλίας του Δήμου Αθηναίων και προσφέρει ξενάγηση από αρχαιολόγο του Μουσείου στις μόνιμες συλλογές ή σε περιοδική έκθεση. Η επίσκεψη προβλέπει επίσης δωρεάν μεταφορά από και προς το Μουσείο ενώ για τις ανάγκες κοινωνικοποίησης και αναψυχής των επισκεπτών, σε κάθε επίσκεψη συμπεριλαμβάνεται θερμό καλωσόρισμα με κέρασμα στο Cycladic Café.

Το πρόγραμμα πραγματοποιείται σε συνεργασία με το Δήμος Αθηναίων και με την υποστήριξη της Motor Oil.

The last meeting of the “Friendship Clubs at the Museum” before the summer period was held successfully, and the activities will resume in September.

Every week, the Museum welcomes a group from an Elderly Friendship Club of the Municipality of Athens, offering a guided tour of the permanent collections or the temporary exhibition led by a Museum archaeologist. The visit also includes free transportation to and from the Museum, along with a warm welcome and a treat at the Cycladic Café, where visitors can socialize and enjoy their time together.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens with the support of Motor Oil.

Οι θεματικές ξεναγήσεις στις μόνιμες εκθέσεις συνεχίζονται!
📌«Κρασί: Το δώρο του θεού Διονύσου»

Η επόμενη θεματική ξενάγηση έχει τίτλο «Κρασί: Το δώρο του θεού Διονύσου» και αναδεικνύει τον οίνο ως διαχρονικό σύμβολο πολιτισμού, άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένο με την απόλαυση, την κοινωνική συνοχή και το κύρος. Κατά τη διάρκεια της ξενάγησης θα ανακαλύψουμε πως η παραγωγή και η διακίνηση του οίνου αποτέλεσαν μέσο οικονομικής ισχύος, ενώ η σύνδεσή του με θρησκευτικές πρακτικές και λατρείες κατέστησε το κρασί αναπόσπαστο στοιχείο των τελετουργιών, ως σταθερού συνοδοιπόρου της ανθρώπινης ζωής από την αρχαιότητα έως σήμερα.

Κάθε θεματική ξενάγηση εστιάζει σε έναν διαφορετικό άξονα και δίνει την ευκαιρία στους επισκέπτες να προσεγγίσουν τα έργα μέσα από επιλεγμένες αφηγήσεις, φωτίζοντας όψεις της καθημερινής ζωής, της λατρείας, της κοινωνικής οργάνωσης και της ανθρώπινης εμπειρίας στο πέρασμα του χρόνου.

📌“Wine: The Gift of Dionysus”

The upcoming tour with the title “Wine: The Gift of Dionysus” highlights wine as a timeless symbol of civilization, closely associated with pleasure, social cohesion, and status. During the tour we will explore how the production and trade of wine became a means of economic power, while its connection to religious practices and cults made wine an integral element of ritual life, a constant companion to human existence from antiquity to the present day.

Each tour focuses on a different theme, giving visitors the opportunity to approach the works through selected narratives that shed light on aspects of everyday life, worship, social organization, and human experience across time.

Το Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης, σε συνεργασία με το Cycladic Art Foundation της Νέας Υόρκης, ενισχύουν και προωθούν την επιστημονική έρευνα που αφορά στον πολιτισμό των Κυκλάδων από τη Νεολιθική έως και τη Μεταβυζαντινή περίοδο.

Για τον σκοπό αυτόν προκήρυξαν το ετήσιο Χρηματικό Έπαθλο ύψους 7,000 δολαρίων στη μνήμη Πέτρου Δ. Γονέου, πρώην ενεργού μέλους και αντιπροέδρου του Cycladic Art Foundation, το οποίο θα δοθεί στο ακέραιο για ένα ακαδημαϊκό έτος σε καθέναν από δυο ισότιμους υποψηφίους των οποίων η πρόταση κρίθηκε από την Επιτροπή Αξιολόγησης.

Στόχος του Μουσείου Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης και του Cycladic Art Foundation είναι το ετήσιο αυτό χρηματικό έπαθλο να καταστεί θεσμός που θα προάγει ουσιαστικά την έρευνα και την παραγωγή υψηλής ποιότητας μελετών για τον πολιτισμό των Κυκλάδων στη διαχρονία του, βοηθώντας παράλληλα νέους ερευνητές στα πρώτα ακαδημαϊκά τους βήματα.

Τhe Museum of Cycladic Art, in collaboration with the Cycladic Art Foundation in New York, support and promote scientific on the culture of the Cyclades from the Neolithic to the Post-Byzantine period.

To this end, they have announced the annual 7000 USD Award in memory of Petros D. Goneos, former active member and Vice President of the Cycladic Art Foundation, to be given in full to each of two equal candidates submitting a joint research proposal and judged by an Academic Advisory Committee.

The aim of the Museum of Cycladic Art and the Cycladic Art Foundation is for this annual academic Award to become an institution that will essentially promote research and the production of high quality studies on the culture of the Cyclades over time, while helping young researchers in their first academic steps.

«Μπορεί να μας αρέσει κάτι που δεν καταλαβαίνουμε;»

Παρά τις διάφορες θεωρίες που έχουν διατυπωθεί, στην πραγματικότητα δεν γνωρίζουμε ποιον σκοπό μπορεί να υπηρετούσαν τα παλαιολιθικά ειδώλια της «Αφροδίτης». Αυτό που γνωρίζουμε είναι ότι δεν ήταν «τέχνη», ούτε «αντικείμενα αισθητικής απόλαυσης», καθώς αυτές είναι σύγχρονες κατηγορίες, ηλικίας το πολύ μερικών αιώνων.

Βοηθά, άραγε, η μεταφορά τους από τα μουσεία ανθρωπολογίας σε ένα μουσείο τέχνης, δίπλα σε ένα σύγχρονο έργο; Μας βοηθά η Balloon Venus Lespugue του Jeff Koons να τα κατανοήσουμε και να τα εκτιμήσουμε καλύτερα; Ή μήπως, αφού ούτε εμείς γνωρίζουμε πραγματικά τι είναι «έργο τέχνης», και αφού ο σκοπός του ίδιου του έργου του Koons δεν είναι απολύτως σαφής, θα μπορούσαμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε το μακρινό παρελθόν για να κατανοήσουμε το παρόν μας;

Alexander Nehamas, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Comparative Literature (Princeton University).
“Can We Love Something That We Don’t Understand?”

Despite various theories, we really don’t know the purpose the paleolithic “Venus” figurines may have served. What we do know is that they were not “art,” “objects of aesthetic appreciation,” since these are modern categories, at most a few hundred years old.

Does removing the figurines from museums of anthropology to an art museum, next to a contemporary work of art, help? Does “Balloon Venus Lespugue” by Jeff Koons help us understand and appreciate them better? But since we don’t really know what “a work of art” is and the purpose of Koons’ work itself isn’t clear, could we use the distant past to understand our present?

«Στελίδα: 200.000 χρόνια ιστορίας της Νάξου»

Ομιλία του Καθηγητή Αρχαιολογίας Tristan Carter και παρουσίαση του βιβλίου “The Secrets of Stelida” της Vanessa Gordon.

Κεντρικό θέμα της συνομιλίας είναι η Στελίδα της Νάξου, ένας τόπος μοναδικής σημασίας για την προϊστορία των Κυκλάδων και του Αιγαίου. Στον διπλό λόφο της Στελίδας, η αρχαιολογική έρευνα έχει φέρει στο φως ίχνη ανθρώπινης παρουσίας που εκτείνονται σε βάθος εκατοντάδων χιλιάδων ετών.

Στο πρώτο μέρος της εκδήλωσης, ο Καθηγητής Tristan Carter θα παρουσιάσει τη μακρόχρονη έρευνα στη Στελίδα. Στο δεύτερο μέρος, η Vanessa Gordon θα παρουσιάσει το νέο της μυθιστόρημα “The Secrets of Stelida”.

Μετά το πέρας της παρουσίασης, θα υπάρχει δυνατότητα υπογραφής αντιτύπων του βιβλίου από τη Vanessa Gordon.

“Stelida: 200,000 Years of Naxos’ History”

Lecture by Professor of Archaeology Tristan Carter and presentation of Vanessa Gordon’s book The Secrets of Stelida.

At the heart of the conversation is Stelida on Naxos, a site of unique significance for the prehistory of the Cyclades and the Aegean. Archaeological research has brought to light traces of human presence extending back hundreds of thousands of years.

Professor Tristan Carter will present the long-standing research at Stelida and its significance for understanding early human activity in the Aegean. Vanessa Gordon will present her new novel The Secrets of Stelida, inspired by the Stelida excavation.

Following the presentation, Vanessa Gordon will sign copies of the book.

Την μουσική δεν την ακούμε μόνο, την αισθανόμαστε!
Στο φετινό η μουσική γίνεται εμπειρία για όλους.

Το Μουσείο συνεργάζεται με την ομάδα deafVest και παρέχει γιλέκα δόνησης που μετατρέπουν τον ήχο και τη μουσική σε απτικές δονήσεις στο σώμα, προσφέροντας σε κωφά και βαρήκοα άτομα μια πιο άμεση, βιωματική και συμμετοχική εμπειρία των live performances.

Μέσω ειδικού ασύρματου εξοπλισμού, μπορεί κανείς να αισθανθεί τον ρυθμό, την ένταση και τη δυναμική της μουσικής.

Η εμπειρία των γιλέκων δόνησης δεν περιγράφεται εύκολα μόνο με λόγια· είναι κάτι που χρειάζεται να βιώσει κανείς ο ίδιος, ώστε να κατανοήσει τη μοναδική σύνδεση του σώματος με τη μουσική και τον ρυθμό. Οι δονήσεις μετατρέπουν τον ήχο σε μια άμεση σωματική εμπειρία, επιτρέποντας στο κοινό να αισθανθεί τη μουσική με έναν διαφορετικό, πολυαισθητηριακό τρόπο.

The Museum teams up with deafVest and provides vibration vests that transform sound and music into tactile vibrations throughout the body, offering Deaf and hard of hearing individuals a more immersive and participatory experience.

Through specialized wireless equipment, you can physically feel the rhythm, intensity, and dynamics of the music in real time.

The experience of the vibration vests cannot easily be described with words alone; it is something that needs to be physically experienced in order to truly understand the connection between the body, music, and rhythm. The vibrations transform sound into an immediate bodily experience, allowing audiences to feel music in a different, multisensory way.
