Great! So, if I buy the NFT of your artwork Chromatic Eruption, will I be the only one who owns that artwork, or can you or someone else still print it?
That’s a very important question because many people are confused about how NFTs work. If you purchase the NFT of Chromatic Eruption, then you will own the official and registered ownership of the authentic digital artwork on the blockchain. In other words, you will be the official owner of the original digital asset.
However, just as with a famous painting in traditional art, other people can still view the image online or print a copy for personal use. The difference is that only one person owns the authentic “certified” work. It’s similar to having an original artwork displayed in a gallery while posters or photographs of it also circulate.
In some cases, usage or printing rights can be separately defined by the artist within the NFT’s terms. It’s like buying an original painting in traditional art. Someone may own the authentic artwork, but that does not necessarily mean they have the right to reproduce or sell copies without the creator’s permission. So, NFTs mainly concern authenticity, official ownership, and certification of the work in the digital environment.
How did your involvement with NFTs begin?
In 2014, I became familiar with the world of crypto and started following developments around blockchain and emerging technologies. I was fascinated by how technology could change the way the digital world operates.
In 2022, I decided to become more actively involved in the NFT space because I saw that it could offer new opportunities for artists. For the first time, digital artists could authenticate their works and present them to a global audience without limitations. That gave me tremendous motivation to further develop my work.
What fascinates you most about the NFT world?
What fascinates me most is the freedom and the connection with people from all over the world. Through NFTs, an artist can present their work globally without relying exclusively on galleries or traditional art spaces.
I also really like the fact that a new community of artists, collectors, and creative individuals has emerged, supporting one another. It’s a space that is constantly evolving and offering many opportunities for new ideas and collaborations. I feel we are still at the beginning of a new digital era for art.

How important is software or technological tools in the creative process?
Software and technological tools are very important, but for me they function more as an “extension” of the artist’s imagination. Just as a painter uses brushes and colors, I use 3D software, digital tools, and technology to translate my ideas into imagery.
However, I believe the tool itself does not create art. The most important thing is always the idea, the emotion, and the personal identity behind the work. Two people can use exactly the same software and create completely different things. Technology opens enormous possibilities, but creativity remains the most decisive factor.
We often hear the word NFT. What exactly are NFTs? Can you explain it in very simple terms?
Of course.
NFTs are essentially digital objects that have a unique “identity” on the internet. The term NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token, meaning something unique that cannot be replaced by another identical thing.
To understand it more easily, imagine a painter creating an original painting and signing it. Many people may take photographs of that painting or buy prints, but only one person can own the original artwork signed by the artist. The same thing happens with NFTs in the digital world.
An NFT can be an image, a video, a piece of music, or even a digital collectible. Everyone can view it online, but only one person can own the “original” piece that is registered on the blockchain.
Blockchain is a technology that functions like a massive digital record book. It securely stores all information about who created an NFT and who owns it. The important thing is that this information cannot easily be altered or deleted, which makes NFTs secure and unique.
In very simple terms, blockchain is like a public book of certificates that everyone can see. So, when someone buys an NFT, they acquire the official proof that they own the authentic digital artwork.
What makes NFTs special is that they gave value and authenticity to digital art. Before this, it was very difficult for a digital artist to prove which artwork was authentic and who the true creator was.

Interview with Digital Artist Yiannis Siemos
26 May 2026

Today I would like to present the acclaimed digital artist, Ioannis Siemos, also known as Yianart.
I come more from the world of fine art, so I’m very interested in how the artistic process translates into the digital environment. I’d like us to begin with your journey and then move on to the process, the technology, and your relationship with the audience.

How did your relationship with art begin?

My journey began through graphic design and gradually evolved into the world of photorealistic 3D art and abstract digital creation. From a young age, I was fascinated by imagery, colors, and the way a creation can convey emotion.

Over the years, I realized that art for me was not simply a profession, but a way to express thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Through each work, I try to create an experience that makes the viewer pause for a moment and feel something different. I believe that art has the power to unite people from different cultures and create genuine connection.

When did you realize you wanted to pursue art professionally?

My professional path began through graphic design, but very quickly I was captivated by the world of digital art and 3D design. That’s where I felt I could create without limitations and explore new worlds through art. Every new project is an opportunity for me to evolve and experiment with something different.

Was there an artist, artwork, or experience that influenced you significantly?

My influences come from many different things. Music, cinema, human psychology, and contemporary digital culture strongly affect the way I create. Many times, a feeling or an image from everyday life can become the inspiration for a new artwork.

I especially enjoy transforming abstract thoughts and emotions into visual experiences.

Do you feel you belong more to the world of fine art, design, or digital culture?

I feel that I exist somewhere between all of these worlds. My foundation began with design and graphic arts, which greatly influenced the way I organize imagery, composition, and the aesthetics of my work. At the same time, my need for personal expression and emotional depth brings me closer to the philosophy of fine art.

Digital culture is also a very important part of my identity because I grew up in an era where technology and the internet changed the way we create and communicate. So I would say that my work is a combination of all three elements. I’m not particularly fond of boundaries between categories; I believe contemporary art can combine different media and influences without limitations.

In 1917, the Metropolitan Museum of Art bought a portrait of a young woman drawing in front of a broken window (shown above) for $200,000 — roughly $5 million today — believing it to be the work of Jacques-Louis David, one of the most prominent French painters of the Neoclassical era.

For decades, the painting was celebrated as a masterpiece. Throughout the early twentieth century, art historians and critics near-universally praised it as ‘exemplary’ and ‘unforgettable.’ But by mid-century, questions about its origins surfaced, and art historian Margaret Oppenheimer eventually reattributed the work to a lesser-known French female artist: Marie-Denise Villers. And suddenly, the belief in women’s supposed lack of artistic genius reared its ugly head, with some art critics now finding faults in the portrait and its ‘feminine spirit.’ A woman just couldn’t have painted such a masterpiece. And if she had, there surely must be something wrong with it.

LUCRETIA by ARTEMISIA GENTILESCHI (1593- 1653)
Lucretia is a painting by the Italian baroque artist Artemisia Gentileschi. It depicts Lucretia, the wife of Roman consul and general Collatinus, at the moment of her su***de. The decision to take her own life was made after she was blackmailed and r***d by Sextus Tarquinius, a fellow soldier of Collatinus. It is one of a number of paintings of Gentileschi that focus on virtuous women ill-treated by men.
The r**e and trial of Artemisia Gentileschi
In May 1611 at the age of 17 years old, Artemisia Gentileschi was r***d by Agostino Tassi, a 31-year-old friend and colleague of her father, Orazio Gentileschi.Tassi promised marriage following the r**e, which would have spared Artemisia the shame of being considered "impure" according to contemporary standards. However, he declined to uphold his promise and the Gentileschi family took him to court, accusing him of r**e and other crimes against the family.

During the trial, Artemisia was subjected to torture as part of her testimony in order to prove she was telling the truth. Metal rings were placed around her fingers and tightened while she spoke, causing agonizing pain and potentially jeopardizing her blossoming painting career.Tassi, on the other hand, was not required to undergo a similar experience and while ultimately convicted and banished, the sentence was not enforced.Like Lucretia, Artemisia Gentileschi made painful sacrifices to maintain her honor and virtue. While some scholars believe that Artemisia would have used her own experience to depict the anguish on the subject's face (which may possibly represent a self-portrait), others observe a woman who, like Artemisia, was determined to choose her own destiny.

για το καλό μου προσπαθεί;

Πώς ν’ αρνηθώ ή ν ‘ αναβάλω
ό,τι ορίζει κι απαιτεί,
αφού στη γη δεν έχω άλλο
κανένα φίλο σαν αυτή;
