The organization was founded in 2014 in Batumi by a group of young artist and curators. Contemporary art space launches an open calls for an exhibition projects annually, has a weekend programs like kids’ corner and screenings with followed discussion. Contemporary Art Space is an organizer from Georgian side of international Photo festival Odessa//Batumi Photo Days that takes place in Odessa and Batumi annually. From 2017 Contemporary Art Space supports creative industries directions thought providing space for art workshops that aims to support artistic development and sustainability. ბათუმში თანამედროვე ხელოვნების სივრცე 2014 წელს, ადგილობრივი ხელოვანების ინიციატივით გაიხსნა. გახსნას წინ უძღვოდა სამწლიანი მუშაობის პროცესი, რომელიც მოიცავდა სივრცის არსებობის აუცილებლობის კვლევას, სემინარებსა და გამოფენებს. თანამედროვე ხელოვნების სივრცე, იგივე CAS, ფუნქციონირებს აჭარის ა.რ. განათლების, კულტურისა და სპორტის სამინისტროს ბაზაზე.
თანამედროვე ხელოვნების სივრცე ცდილობს ხელი შეუწყოს ადგილობრივი სახელოვნებო სცენის გამრავალფეროვნებას, ერთწლიანი საგამოფენო და საგანამანათლებლო პროგრამის მეშვეობით. პროგრამის შედგენა ხდება საერთაშორისო ღია კონკურსის გამოცხადების საფუძველზე, რომელიც ცხადდება ყოველი წლის ნოემბრის-დეკემბრის თვეებში (იხ. “სიახლეები”). CAS გუნდის ორგანიზებით ყოველწლიურად ტარდება ფესტივალი “გაცვლა” (Interchange), რომელიც 2015 წლიდან “ფოტო დღეების” სახელით ტარდებოდა, შემდეგ კი მულტიდისციპლინარული ფესტივალის ფორმა მიიღო. (იხ. “Interchange”). მულტისექტორული თანამშრომლობა სივრიცის ერთ -ერთ პრიორიტეტად იქცა, რათა მეტად უზრუნველყოს სხვა სექტორების ჩართულობა შემოქმედებით პროცესებში.
