We launched our new artist mentoring programme on Sunday - Creative Recovery!

In partnership with Service User Involvement Team and funded by West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner we are so excited to work with these creatives over the next 12 months.

On Sunday we had three artist Q&A's, one with our studio holder and two of our PROFILE graduates and Stephen macfadyen

These sessions will be fortnightly and will include artist talks, 121 mentoring, group crits, art history sessions and skills workshops.

NEW PROJECT

Creative Recovery is a new peer-led creative mentoring programme delivered by Asylum Art Gallery & Studios, supporting adults in recovery to explore creativity, build confidence and develop new skills in a welcoming, non-clinical environment.

Building on the success of our PROFILE Alternative Art School, which supported participants through artist mentoring, cultural visits and creative development, Creative Recovery provides an ongoing space for people to continue their creative journey. Through fortnightly sessions, artist talks, practical workshops and peer support, participants will have the opportunity to connect with professional artists, develop their own creative practice and become part of a supportive artistic community. We will be working with approx 12 referrals from SUIT. ​​​​​​

An evening of experimental film and uncompromising sound as part of Junction Festival.

🎬 7:30pm – Waiting (1990) by The KLF

A rarely screened 42-minute ambient film following Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty across the Isle of Jura. Part road movie, part meditation on time and place, Waiting captures the landscapes, sounds and strange mythology of The KLF as they record and reflect in one of Scotland's most remote settings.

⚡ 8:15pm – Live performance by UK noise band The Angel of the Enemy .of.the.enemy

Expect an immersive evening of underground film, experimental sound and alternative culture in the heart of Wolverhampton.
