This week at the studio, many of the students finished their hedgerow paintings, where plants were set into moulding paste. Then colour using ink , acrylic paint and pastel was added. It was so exciting to see the different interpretations with so much variety.

Painting in oil from Dark to light. Just using one dark tone, the paint is removed with rags / sticks as the image is drawn into to create the lighter tones. If it all goes wrong it can be wiped out and reworked. A really fun technique and I will be running a workshop on this on Saturday 17th August . Yes another re-work ! don’t know what I’d do without gesso ! I have been a bit quiet recently as I have been going through a rough patch with my painting. Too many competing voices going through my head to the point I’ve slightly lost my way. I shall keep going till the voice that’s me resonates through what I’m doing
