"The Platinum Jubilee Town Crier Competition took place in Windsor today. The Town Criers paraded in their ceremonial liveries before competing in a friendly day long competition on the lawn beneath the Salisbury Tower, close to the Henry VIII Gate and Queen Victoria Statue. Following rules laid down by the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers, the competition was judged on Diction, Inflection, Volume and Clarity."

🇬🇧 💜 A 66 second whistlestop tour of a magical day last week in Windsor! Including blue skies, plenty of bunting, flags, a wedding, the Guildhall open day, drinks on the terrace and then culminating in the beacon lighting and fireworks on the Long Walk. Keep the sound on to hear the magnificent bells from St Georges Chapel. They did a ‘quarter peal’ (50 minutes) on the evening of Thursday 2 June to mark the anniversary of the Coronation and The Queen’s Official Birthday.
A huge thank you to everyone that came to the open day and drinks experience and a special thank you to our lovely wedding couple who have let us share a little glimpse of their day in this video. Their red double decker bus caused quite a stir in Windsor and was a popular selfie spot!
Thank you also to the team at the Windsor & Royal Borough museum and their volunteers who supported the open day. We saw a lot of handmade crowns being made by visiting children!
We are available to hire for weddings and events inside the Guildhall and outside on our covered terrace – please get in touch if you’d like us to host your next event: email us on

What an incredible and unforgettable occasion! Thank you to everyone – an estimated 50,000 people – who came together to celebrate at our special Platinum Jubilee beacon lighting and fireworks display on The Long Walk, Windsor last night. 👑 If you couldn’t make it, here’s a short video to watch. 👇
🎷As the crowd gathered, talented musicians from Windsor Boys School and our fabulous town crier Chris Brown kept everyone entertained, ahead of the lighting of the beacon by the Mayor, Councillor Christine Bateson, and Admiral Sir James Perowne, Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle. 🔥 The evening rounded off perfectly with a spectacular fireworks display over Windsor Castle. 🎇
Remember, the jubilee celebrations in the Royal Borough continue today and over the weekend, including our special open day and VIP drinks reception at Windsor Guildhall today, from 12pm to 4pm. 🥂 More

We’ve had such a fun time exploring Windsor today - there was such a positive celebratory atmosphere around the town.
We took pictures with ’The Queen’, a corgi and a guard, ate Fortescues of Windsor ice cream, visited Bachelor Acre where they were having an jubilee Ox Roast (a tradition dating back to 1809 when it was King George III’s golden jubilee). We also visited Windsor & Royal Borough Museum, enjoyed the jubilee decorations, fed the swans, saw the Red Arrows fly over Windsor and went on the rides next to Alexandra Gardens.

🥂 We had a fantastic day today at Windsor Guildhall, welcoming hundreds of visitors through our historic doors – and the fun continues tomorrow with the second of our special Platinum Jubilee open days, from 12pm to 4pm.
Come along and you will be able to see the stunning royal portraits of Her Majesty The Queen and beautiful stained-glass windows which were created to commemorate her Diamond Jubilee.
Children can also leave a handwritten message for the Queen, and there's children's craft activities, including making paper crowns. Anyone looking to support local sellers can browse a range of products from small independent Windsor businesses.
Alongside the open day, we have a VIP drinks experience on the exclusive, covered outside terrace area, where visitors can buy Guildhall prosecco, locally sourced beer, and delicious handmade patisserie style treats.

🇬🇧 🥂 We are looking forward to welcoming you to our open day and VIP drinks experience on Thursday and Friday this week. So we thought you’d like to know a bit about the history of this outside area of the Guildhall.
Officially known as the Corn Market, the covered terrace area at the front of Windsor Guildhall is part of the original building construction which was completed in 1690. It is where you’ll see our famous red doors and the entrance to the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum and the Royal Information Centre. It is here where Her Majesty The Queen, on her 90th Birthday, met local residents also born in 1926 and cut her birthday cake made my Nadiya Hussain, winner of the Great British Bake Off. Princess Anne also stood here to watch the Household Cavalry Freedom Parade in 2019 and it was used as a VIP viewing area for the Royal Wedding in 2018 too.
At our Platinum Jubilee events, we will be setting up tables and chairs and a bar on the terrace to create our own ‘VIP’ area. Visitors can buy Guildhall Prosecco or Windsor & Eton beer and locally produced handmade patisserie style treats and take a seat in our VIP area which offers a unique vantage point in the heart of Windsor.
The Windsor Guildhall is proud to have many items on display connected to Her Majesty The Queen and her 70 year reign, several of which were created to commemorate other jubilee years. Visitors to the VIP drinks experience will have the opportunity to visit the Council Chamber and Ascot Room upstairs to see the royal portraits and beautiful stained glass windows. Members of the Windsor & Royal Borough Museum team will be on hand to answer any questions.
