Thank you to everyone who helped make the third Wincanton History day such a success, possibly the best yet!

In particular the Wincanton Museum and History Society would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous, invaluable and enthusiastic support:

Armishaw's Removals
Hillbrush
Kellaways
Wincanton Auctions
Wincanton Racecourse
Coles Yard
Roderick Thomas
Stoke Lane Stables
Pevlings Farm Riding and Livery Stables
and all of you who donated through our Crowdfunder.

Without these supporters, and the endless help from volunteers and enthusiasts, Wincanton History Day would not be possible. Thank you!

WINCANTON HISTORY DAY!
HOBBY HORSE PARADE - UPDATE!
The parade will now take place a little later than planned and at a different location.
The parade will take place in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul's Church, Wincanton at 1.30 pm.

We have done this because of the unexpectedly large numbers of children who will be in the parade (which is great!) and we decided to start later so that nobody would miss the Horse Parade at 12pm and the Transport Parade at 1pm.

Spread the word if you have friends and relations taking part!

We hope this hasn't inconvenienced you and look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

This Saturday is Wincanton History Day! And the forecast is sunny!

The packed day of events kicks off at Wincanton Museum on the High Street at 10.00am with a celebrity appearance by Gee Hirst, who plays sword-wielding Torvi in the History TV series VIKINGS. There's still time to make it Bootmakers to grab a child's hobbyhorse to decorate (call 07419760737 to get yours). Check out the programme below to see what's happening

Brigadier John Smales talks about the Invasion of Normandy in 1944. He will cover the campaign and describe the main battles involved. Showing how Montgomery’s plans came to fruition despite set-backs; and indeed how victory was actually achieved earlier than predicted.

Wincanton History Day will be clip-clopping into town on April 5th, and as well as the great parade of horses we will have a Grand National Parade of hobby horses.

If you want to take part pick up a hobby horse for £3 from Bootmakers in Wincanton, decorate it however you like and dress up for the parade if you want! All proceeds go towards funding the History Day.
