ON THE EASEL

At the moment I am working on pieces for my solo Shevington Library Exhibition. The one on the easel today is an almost complete view of Llandudno Pier from the Great Orme. An early morning view looking towards the rising sun.

REFLECTIONS

One of my favourite things about landscape painting is the different reflections, which help to bring a scene together. Whether it’s a view across a lake, or a wet day in a town centre, or a night scene looking across an harbour. I find them really fascinating.

CRETAN MEMORIES

I’m just home from a lovely break in Crete. I caught up with friends, from far and wide, while there. I also found some new ideas for paintings too, which I will be beginning soon.

In the meantime, here are a couple of older paintings which have found new homes.

GOREY HARBOUR, JERSEY

Painted in 2025, oil on canvas. I was captured by the scene, showing all kinds of different boats at rest, in the harbour at low tide. It made a very interesting composition.

“CHURCH IN THE SEA 2026”

Painted after a recent visit to Georgioupolis, Crete. I’m always attracted to this amazing church, which I have painted a number of times. This particular painting depicts the famous church of Agios Nikolaos, on a sunny, windy evening in early Summer. It is 40 x 30 cm in size, in water based oil on canvas board.

“ASHTON-IN-MAKERFIELD LIBRARY, SPRING BLOSSOMS”

There’s a lot of talk at the moment about it “coming home”. My latest painting of our wonderful library has this week found a new home. I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Prints of this one are available to order. DM me for details.

ASHTON-IN-MAKERFIELD, JUBILEE PARK

Our local spaces, such as Ashton’s award winning Jubilee Park, are something to be proud of. I have painted here a couple of times. Here are the results.

Wouldn’t it have been better for the media to report from here, instead of reporting from the building site, which we call our high street.

Well, what a time to finish this painting!!

After the lovely response to my winter library painting, I’ve been waiting for the blossoms to appear so I could paint a spring view of our very special Carnegie Library.

I started this painting at the beginning of April, and it’s finally finished. I wanted to capture the warmth, light, and beauty of the library surrounded by spring colour.

I hope you enjoy this different perspective as much as I enjoyed painting it.
