✨ ARTIST OF THE MONTH: SIMON WRIGHT ✨

We’re delighted to introduce our latest Artist of the Month, Simon Wright. And what better time to celebrate his work than with a wonderful new collection of originals, just arrived at The Unicorn Gallery.

This latest collection brings some of our favourite Liverpool and Manchester landmarks to life through Simon’s distinctive impressionistic style.

From the Royal Liver Building and Albert Dock to Anfield, the Etihad Stadium and Manchester Town Hall, Simon captures these familiar places with expressive brushwork, vibrant colour, light and atmosphere.

Simon’s aim is to capture the feeling of a place - something instantly recognisable, but with the freedom to imagine the atmosphere, the moment and the memories it evokes.

And there’s so much more to discover about Simon in our Artist of the Month interview. We caught up with him to talk about his lifelong ambition to become an artist, his love of colour and dramatic skies, the places that inspire him, his favourite painting (which he says he could never sell!) and even where he’d travel if time travel were possible…

✨ ARTIST OF THE MONTH | PAOLO BIGAZZI ✨

This month, we’re delighted to shine the spotlight on one of our much-loved landscape artists, Paolo Bigazzi.

Born in Livorno and trained at the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Paolo has spent a lifetime surrounded by the beauty and artistic heritage of Tuscany. His breathtaking landscapes capture the changing colours, light and seasons of the Italian countryside in a wonderfully expressive, impressionistic style.

We’ve just received a stunning new collection of original paintings by Paolo, and we couldn’t think of a better time to celebrate his work.

We recently caught up with Paolo to talk about his inspiration, his love of Tuscany and what he hopes collectors feel when they live with one of his paintings.

We particularly loved his answer when we asked why his paintings feel so peaceful:

“In my paintings there are no people. The viewer can enter the landscape undisturbed by the noise of today’s world.” ❤️

And perhaps that perfectly sums up the magic of a Paolo Bigazzi painting. They offer a little escape—to rolling Tuscan hills, sun-drenched vineyards, cypress-lined roads and fields of vibrant colour.

We’re delighted to give you an exclusive first look at a brand new original by one of our most popular artists, Chris Chapman.

Fraud Monet - Beach Ready sees Chris Chapman’s mischievous frogs return for another unforgettable escapade. Racing past Claude Monet’s Étretat, the Beach and the Falaise d’Amont on a moped, berets firmly in place and a basket overflowing with baguettes and wine, this delightful scene is packed with French charm, artistic humour and the irresistible visual puns that have made Chapman’s work so collectable. It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and artist, Steven Scholes, has passed away.

Steven had been part of the Unicorn Gallery family for more than 40 years, first working alongside my father, Peter Hart, and remaining a valued artist, friend and constant presence throughout the gallery’s history. For me personally, Steven has been part of my entire life and it is difficult to imagine the gallery without him.

His paintings brought joy to so many collectors over the years, and his warmth, humour and generosity made him loved by all who knew him. We feel incredibly fortunate to have shared such a long and special relationship with him.

Our thoughts are with Steven’s family and friends at this difficult time.

Steven leaves behind an extraordinary artistic legacy and a body of work that will continue to be cherished in homes across the country and abroad for many years to come. He will be greatly missed by all of us at the Unicorn Gallery.
