Lovely to welcome back Estella Scholes to the gallery for TIME AND TIDE. Her delicately detailed, collaged collographs are an absolute joy and really need to be enjoyed up close.

Do pop in if you can before 24th October. The weather is most definitely autumnal and it's rather blowy in West Kirby. But there's always a warm welcome here in the gallery and in all the other wonderful independents around town...

Solitary Depths. It's an absolute pleasure to have new collection of works by Richard Monks in the gallery this month.

Richard's abstract works are painted from memories - shapes observed on regular walks around the Lake District, Liverpool and the Llŷn Peninsula, between which he divides much of his time.

Field patterns on the fellside, flotsam washed up along the shoreline, or the remains of an industrial era on the banks of the Mersey....

Come and enjoy in person every Thurs to Sat, 11am to 4pm.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE 11th OCTOBER.

There's just one week left to apply for our 2026 OPEN exhibition!.

Artists working in the UK are invited to submit up to three pieces in any 2D or 3D medium for the exhibition which runs from 3rd December to 30th January 2027.

You'll find all the submission guidelines and ONLINE form on our website (link in bio).

Here are the key dates and entry information:

Application deadline: Sunday 11th October
Artists notified: 1st November
Delivery of work: 29th/ 30th November
Exhibition Launch: 3rd December
Exhibition ends: 30th January 2027
Collection of unsold work: 31st January /1st February

The gallery will select two artists from the OPEN 2026 exhibition to each receive a £100 cash prize and an invitation to exhibit in the LAKE gallery during 2027

This will be our fifth open exhibition here at the LAKE gallery. Our previous OPENs have been hugely successful and we've made some wonderful connections with artists, so do spread the word.

Entry Fee & Commission:.

There is a non-refundable application fee of £5 to be paid on submission of the application. You may submit up to three works on one application for one single payment of £5. All work will be offered for sale. All sales will be subject to the gallery commission of 40% of the selling price.

Delivery/Collection

Artists must be available to deliver their work in person to the gallery, and to collect any unsold work. You may ask someone else to deliver/collect for you but regretfully we are unable to accept posted/couriered work or to package work for return by post/courier.

What a lovely preview evening to celebrate the opening of TIME AND TIDE last night. The exhibition shines with colour and light. Thanks to old friends and new for sharing the evening with us and huge congratulations to (our very own) Helen Smith | Glass Artist, Richard Monks and Estella Scholes for producing a fabulous collection of paintings, prints and glass art.

Do come and visit, you won't be disappointed!

It's all change next week as we prepare for the opening of Time and Tide. Don't miss this one! Opens Thursday 24th September.

Three artists respond to the forms, textures and rhythms of place through paint, print and glass.

Time and Tide brings together the work of painter Richard Monks, glass artist Helen Smith, and printmaker Estella Scholes, three artists whose practices are shaped by their relationship with landscape.

Their work looks beyond literal representation, finding inspiration in the changing surfaces, colours, fragments and traces encountered in the places we move through - from shoreline and fellside to old stone, weathered
buildings and the remnants of industry.
