On July 3rd CNAM was visited by the Lea Valley TR Register Club.

The group included examples of the TR4A, TR5, TR6 and TR7. The TR5 was the first British sportscar to have a fuel injected engine and was a direct development from the TR4A which in turn had come from the original TR4, but with the addition of independent rear suspension.

These cars were styled by the Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, but in 1969 the TR5 was replaced by the TR6 styled by the German Karman design house. The TR6 retained the fuel injected 2.5 litre straight six engine from the TR5 but with a revised chassis and much more angular styling.

The final TR was the British Leyland designed TR7 - often known as the "Wedge". It sold well, including considerable export success to the USA - something achieved by all marks of TR.

The cars were parked up under the Vulcan and largely mirrored its time in service. The drivers and passengers enjoyed guided tours of the the classic V-Bomber as well as CNAM's Ni**od and Avro RJ85.

With the hot weather recently we were overjoyed to be joined last weekend by Deedee’s luxury Ice Cream - not only were the ice creams flying out the window, but the very unique mini was also a superb exhibit as part of our classic cars on display at the Wings and Wheels event.

Thanks to recent Corporate Volunteers who helped out at the museum.

As well as our own volunteer members, CNAM has recently been fortunate to have had assistance from groups of volunteers from two prominent local insurance companies – Aviva and Marsh.

Two groups from Aviva have renovated the Memorial Garden at the entrance to the car park, while two groups from Marsh have been involved in washing some of the aircraft, ranging from a single engine MS880 trainer to a Jaguar ground attack aircraft.

These activities haven’t been all work as the volunteers have had the chance to look round the museum and been shown inside CNAM’s Ni**od and RJ85 aircraft. Many thanks to all our recent corporate volunteers – your efforts have been much
appreciated. If other organisations would be interested in participating in corporate volunteering days we would be very pleased to hear from you.

We want to give out a massive THANK YOU to all of you who attended our Wings and Wheels event this weekend - it was a roaring success yet again, and proved to be more popular than ever.

Special thanks go out to all of the exhibitors and vendors who joined us over the 2 days - you brought a great set of displays and services to the muaeum.

We can't forget the live entertainers either who had their audiences engaged all weekend with their ongoing performances.

And last but not least a huge thanks goes to all of our volunteers who made the weekend possible. Well done all!!
