Harlesden High Street

Harlesden High Street POC led space with a mission to bridge social and cultural gaps within the field of contemporary art

Harlesden High Street was founded with the mission of facilitating access between experimental/outsider artists and the traditional gallery system. We host several spaces across London exhibiting contemporary art by local and international artists, centering work by people of colour. In addition to our exhibition venues, we host cultural outreach with an aim to reach audiences in ungentrified neighborhoods who might be less likely to engage with typical gallery programming.

Presented in collaboration with Miri

Miri is a cultural platform dedicated to the authorship and preservation of contemporary practice, operating across editorial, strategy, and archival form. At Barely Fair, in collaboration with Harlesden High Street, Miri presents a co-authored booth that conceptually alludes to Neighbors, a new exhibition and fair exploring how art is encountered within a domestic space. This framework brings work into closer proximity with the conditions of living, where presence, scale, and context shape perception. The presentation reflects Miri’s commitment to extending artistic work beyond the exhibition format, situating it within a continuous and deliberate cultural memory.

2 Of Amerikkkaz most wanted presents works to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of 2pac’s debut album ‘All Eyez On Me’ which had original art work by Riskie Brent. Presented here in a miniature form the works are 1/12 scale of the original paintings by Joe Cool & Riskie Brent whilst they both worked at Death Row Records.

26- 28 Feb 2026

Harlesden High Street is pleased to present a duo booth at Post-Fair of works by Paul Flores and Antonio Lechuga. Connecting with both artists Mexican heritage the presentation of both textiles and sculpture deals with ideas of loss, hope and familial connections.

Post-Fair is an alternative three-day art fair in Los Angeles running February 26-28, 2026. Low cost to the galleries and the visitor, it seeks to simplify the art fair experience by focusing on solo presentations in an iconic venue with a relatively low impact, open plan format.

Congratulations to Akinola Davies .Jr and Wale Davies for winning the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer for their film, “My Father’s Shadow” a deeply personal 16mm film set during the 1993 Nigerian election.

Akinola debuted at Harlesden High Street back in 2024 with his solo exhibition Tabanca where Alvaro Barrington invited Davies to make a visual reflection of Carnival, wanting to “capture Carnival, from inception to end”. The film is unsettling as much as it illuminates; it articulates a saturated, effervescent, and dense spirit: a sensory overload.

‘My Father’s Shadow’ is currently in cinemas across the Uk
