The Uffington Museum

The Uffington Museum The museum is open until the end of October, Saturday, Sunday & BH Monday 2pm to 5pm. Out of hours visits can be arranged by contacting the curator.

We will also have stalls at Uffington Farmers Market the 1st Sunday of each month
selling merchandise. Uffington Museum is a small but fascinating village museum with displays explaining the history of the area including the White Horse. Uffington's connections with Thomas Hughes and his famous book Tom Brown's Schooldays, and the poet laureate John Betjeman are also illustrated. We also have a large collection of photographs, many of which are available to visitors.

Join us for our next talk on Monday 6th July by local author and speaker, Mike White!

Everyone has heard tales of Dick Turpin and other dashing highwaymen, but Oxfordshire boasts its own home-grown rogues. Mike White shares stories about both famous and lesser-known highwaymen who terrorised the county. Discover which highwayman only stole from enemies of the King, which dandy danced with his lady victims, which rogue single-handedly robbed the army payroll, who rode to York in a single day, and which bad boy was a bishop.

Mike will be signing copies of his book ‘Rogues of the Road’ after the talk.

Mike is an acknowledged local author and speaker, having also written The Ox-Files and The Veiled Veil – all available from the Wantage Bookshop and the usual retailers.
