US WW2 Re-enactment Group Welcome to Utah 237 Re-enactment Group.
We are a group of likeminded individuals with a keen interest in the Second World War, specifically the US timeline of 1944 through to 1945. The group portrays the 237th Engineer Combat Battalion who were based in Shiphay, Torquay before embarkation onto the Normandy beaches in June 1944. If you have any queries or would like to get in contact; please email us on [email protected].

Bude at War 2023 💣
Utah 237 Re-enactment Group were very proud to attend the Bude at War Weekend 2023.
We all had a great time and caught up with some old and very close friends.
It was a shame about the weather, but that still didn’t dampen spirits ⛅️ .
A huge thankyou to Clair and team for putting on a great event again.
We look forward to support any future events.

Can you see us? 👋🏻
The Bude at War camp this evening.
Today we remember those who lost their lives 22 years ago in the 9/11 attacks. Our thoughts with the families who lost their loved ones.
“If we learn nothing else from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.”
—Sandy Dahl, wife of Flight 93 pilot Jason Dahl, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in 2002 🤍
What a great day!
Utah 237 were kindly invited to Ashprington Summer Tractor Show (Ashprington Tractor Fest). Not one of our usual shows, but what a place to go.
It was based at a large field just inside the village of Ashprington. So it was a local show for us, in an area with a lot of history.
On speaking to the locals of Ashprington and a local historian, we weres informed that the area was used by the US soliders during the war, especially the Military Police who were encamped there. They also noted that there was a one way system used by the army to get around the area.
We also spoke with locals who informed us of different historical activity and information about the area during the stay of the American GIs, which we will follow up during the winter months and keep you all updated on our page.
It is with great thanks to Ashprington community and members for their help and support in making this a great event. We thank you for your hospitality and look forward to seeing you all again next year.

We can’t wait to attend this event tomorrow! Hope to see some of you there. We will have 2 jeeps and a small display.

We have an incredible weekend booked. The work for this has been going on for over a year.... whatever rumours are flying - please ignore them. I personally will not let anyone down. We have a great team and everything is in place, it has been for a long while. Right now we, I, need your belief, trust and support.
WHAT IS ON
We have the BIGGEST D-DAY landing ever, on the same beach that The 2nd Battalion Rangers trained on 80 years ago. We have FW44; 29th, Dog Co, Landing craft and others taking part in this including a cliff climb.

I have been in personal contact with you all directly and know that I have kept you advised of many things. Arrival information will be going out this week. Anticipated footfall of 10,000. The event is right next to the town centre and beach, so is very busy. Currently 48 vehicles and 13 re-enactment groups confirmed. Yet again a fantastic weekend at Harrowbeer, thanks to the organisers.
The weather was a mixture; some rain, but also bright hot sunshine. Never the less the public came in their hundreds and kept us busy all day long!
It was a pleasure hearing stories from local people who had memories of Plymouth during the war times, and we heard lots about Gumchum (and the American generosity).
Some pictures of our weekend, more to follow over the week 📸

What a busy day, I don’t think we stopped at all it was packed. From speaking to the public about kit and equipment, as well as keeping the memory of the 237 alive.

Yesterday we attended the unveiling of the Brixham Embarkation Mural which was officially opened by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Brian Wills-Pope MBE. It was a pleasure to get involved with this event as it is within our local area and history.
We attended with 3 jeeps and 4 members of the unit.
The Mural shows the embarkation of troops, during Operation Overlord (D-day), onto the ships providing a visual explanation of what happening during this period.
Thank you to Cecilia for inviting us to this wonderful event that you organised and Martin Potten for taking some great photos which we have used below.
Next Saturday we will be at Ashprington Tractor Fest 🚜

Dawlish Armed Forces Day 🪖
Today we were based on Dawlish Green, and had a small set up including 1 jeep, a trailer, various US weapon systems, field wash items and some small rations.
It was great to see and speak to lots of members of the public, informing them about what we brought. We had some great questions asked.
We also had our newest recruit Abbie join us, who did great at her first event; confidently speaking to the public about the displays and looking great in her uniform on her first turn out.
