Thank you to the MCC for their visit to our museum during their match in Thirsk. Great to see these cricketers at our museum, the birthplace of Thomas Lord, in Kirkgate.

On Sunday Thirsk Cricket Club played Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The MCC own Lord’s Cricket Ground, known as the home of cricket, in London.
As part of the Thirsk Club’s 175th anniversary celebrations they invited the MCC to Thirsk to play a match and also to look around Thirsk Museum, the house where Thomas Lord was born in 1755. He went on to establish the cricket ground named after him.

We have a few people stepping down from volunteering at the Museum and consequently we desperately need a few new people! It would be 2 - 2 1/2 hours a week. If you would like to know more please just call in at the Museum and chat to the volunteers on duty (Monday - Friday 10.30 - 3 or Saturday morning). Or email [email protected].
