Rose Eva Sculpture

Rose Eva Sculpture Sculptures in stone and bronze I create sculptures of the human form in both bronze and highly polished stone, such as marble and onyx.

While based on close observation from life, my figures are sensuous and abstracted, and must be explored with the hands as well as the eyes. My work has been exhibited in London, Paris and New York as well as around the UK. Public commissions include Deeper Than Skin, for Salisbury District Hospital, a commission won in a national competition. I am also delighted to undertake commissions for private clients.

April 25 is a national holiday in Italy, when (I think) the country was released from the Fascist yoke in 1945, so we went to the old town of Carrara for the day. Carrara is the home of marble, nestled right under the mountains from which it’s quarried, and it has an almost alpine feel. It’s a pretty town with a lovely Duomo, very simple inside, and everything, but everything, in the town is made of marble

My first piece of stone is in the workshop in Carrara, and it’s huge! I’m here for three months fulfilling quite the most exciting commission from . Marble is everywhere in this little piece of stonecarver’s heaven - it even lines the beach - and the mountains where it all comes from are visible everywhere. An amazing place
