PRIVATE VIEW THIS SUNDAY!

From 24th May to 6th June, experience Geoff Stocker’s exhibition YUKARTA.

A collection made in silk rather than the usual heavy cotton of a simple non-ceremonious kimono, or ‘Yukata’, allowing for a deeper tonal depth and rich colour saturation. Stocker regularly works with silk, being his fabric of choice over the past 15 years.

“My surface pattern designs are all created on computer with Photoshop, which I have been using as my primary art and design medium for the past 30 years. The techniques I use involve a combination of drawing, painting, layering and blended collage. The resulting designs are then digitally printed onto lightweight silks.

While several of the yukata form part of a short series of variations on a theme, as in the ‘Samarkand’ and ‘Carpathian’ designs, they are all unique pieces.”

– Geoff Stocker.

Free entry, no booking required.

Opening times:

Opening evening (24/05): 5:30pm - 7pm

Mon - Fri (excluding Bank Holiday): 9:30am - 4pm

Geoff will be onsite on 30/05 to provide an exclusive artist insight and give one-to-one perspectives on his exhibition.

(1-3) Ella Gorasia
Drawn to the traces left by time, growth, and change, and explores how strength and resilience coexist with decay and impermanence in wearable forms, Ella's work captures moments of renewal, decline, and transformation in metal, from delicate, intricate pieces to more sculptural forms that reflect the textures, patterns, and marks left by nature and human experience.

(4-6) Besnik
Using multiple exposure, I construct compositions from fragments of everyday life, on streets, within landscapes, and in the studio. While the main subject remains recognisable, overlapping layers bleed into one another, suggesting the persistence of memory and deepening the atmosphere of the work.

(7-9) Ruth Bowey
Ruth Bowey’s paintings explore the fleeting beauty of nature and memory. Inspired by organic forms, shifting light and the ephemeral qualities of wild flowers and foliage, she employs soft, atmospheric layers of pigment to create dreamlike compositions. Her process allows the paint and plants to guide the work.
