Elysium is an artist-led contemporary arts centre located in the heart of Swansea city centre. We are home to a thriving community of artists and offer audiences the opportunity to experience a dynamic programme of contemporary art exhibitions, events, and creative activities for both children and adults. Founded in 2007, Elysium was established to support and promote the arts in Swansea and beyon

🎨 September is here, and we have a full schedule of creative workshops lined up! ✨

There’s something for everyone this month, with regular sessions throughout the week:

🖐️ Wednesdays
• Messy & Sensory Play — 10:30–11:30am
• Swansea Crafties — 1pm
• Life Drawing — 6pm - Except the last Wednesday of the month, when we have Swansea Illustrators Club!

✍️ Thursdays
• Swansea Scribes — 1pm
• Welsh Language Arts & Crafts — 4–5pm

🎨 Fridays
• After School Arts Club — 4–5pm

🖌️ Saturdays
• Open Art Studio Drop-In — 11am–1pm every other Saturday
• Cygnets Art School — starting Saturday 19th September!

🎨 Surrealist Paintings

Inspired by the work of artist Susan Adams, BEEP Painting Prize winner and exhibitor in our current exhibition, this fun workshop invites you to juxtapose imagery and objects to create your own wonderfully other-worldly paintings.

Join us every Wednesday evening (except the last Wednesday of the month) for friendly, informal life drawing in a relaxed atmosphere.

✏️ Basic materials provided
🥤 £10 on the day + a FREE café drink
🕡 6:30pm start — arrive around 6pm for a good spot
🧑‍🎨 Unclothed models, with poses gradually getting longer
☕ Tea/beer break halfway through

Bring anything more specific you’d like to draw with. Everyone welcome!

Summer Tots takeover!
Free Arts Craft and Play

‘Every Friday in August between 11am and 1pm be sure to drop-in with your kids to explore the gallery and play in our new classroom.

There will be toys, games and art materials provided by our resident Play Expert Siwan (Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic and Developmental Play) - suitable for all ages to come and play.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

And don’t forget our cafe serves hot and cold drinks as well as cakes! ‘

In 2024 Charlotte Brisland and Susan Adams were the joint winners of the Beep Painting Biennial. The selectors/judges for BEEP 2024 (themed “I won’t stay in a world without love”) held at elysium gallery were Nelson Diplexcito, Ann Jones, and Bronwen Lewis, with Tim Davies acting as the selector for the Friends of the Glynn Vivian Welsh Artist Award won by Zena Blackwell. This Friday the three artists present their new exhibition’Safe as Milk’ as well as new paintings by Hannah Jones in our Coffee Shop Gallery opening at 7pm at our new gallery at 12-24 Belle Vue Way, Swansea followed by an after show party at our old venue now called ‘Down by here’ on the nearby High Street from 9.30pm.
