Before the doors open, there's a quieter side to every art fair.

The labels are checked, the spacing is adjusted, and each artwork is carefully considered until everything feels just right.

This was one of those moments as we prepared our stand for The Game Fair 2026. While visitors see the finished exhibition, there's always plenty happening behind the scenes to make sure every painting is presented at its best.

It's these details that matter to us. Whether we're meeting collectors at an art fair or helping someone discover a painting through our fully online gallery, our aim is always the same: to create a thoughtful and enjoyable experience of contemporary British art.

A little piece of summer in flight.

Swallows on the Avon by Lynsey Cleaver captures that fleeting moment when a flock lifts and turns together, full of movement, texture and light.

Created using Gelliplate print and mixed media, the work layers painterly marks, fragments of landscape and expressive brushwork to create something that feels both atmospheric and wonderfully tactile.

It’s the kind of artwork that changes as you spend time with it: from across the room, the swallows draw you in; up close, the layers reveal themselves.

Every exhibition begins like this.

Before this artwork could take its place on our stand at The Game Fair 2026, it had to be carefully unpacked after its journey to us. It may not be the glamorous side of gallery life, but it's one of our favourite moments.

There's something incredibly exciting about removing the layers of protective wrapping and seeing an original painting ready to be hung, admired and enjoyed. It's the moment a delivery becomes part of an exhibition.

At Fosse Gallery, we believe collecting original art should feel personal and accessible. While we were delighted to meet so many visitors at The Game Fair, our fully online gallery means you can explore and discover contemporary British art wherever you are.

From the first brushstroke to the final detail...

Watching a painting come to life never loses its magic.

This time-lapse captures artist Alex Williams at work, revealing the patience, skill and countless decisions behind an original painting. Every mark adds something new, gradually bringing the scene, and its wonderfully characterful pigs, to life.

It's easy to admire a finished painting, but seeing the creative process reminds us just how much time, craftsmanship and imagination goes into every original work of art.

Alex Williams is one of the featured artists in our Summer Exhibition, where you'll discover a collection of his distinctive paintings alongside work by other leading contemporary British artists. Sometimes, finding the perfect setting for a painting means taking it outside.

Whether it's soft morning light, a garden in full bloom or a quiet corner that complements the artwork, we're always looking for ways to show each painting at its very best. It's all part of helping collectors imagine how original art can live beyond the white walls of a gallery.

Looking for creative inspiration doesn't stop at the gallery door.

One of the things we love most about the Cotswolds is its community of independent makers, artists and shopkeepers, each bringing something unique to the area.

This week, Margie spent some time exploring a few of our favourite places around Chipping Norton:

“This is my grandfather, Trevor.”

He wasn’t a famous sitter or a commissioned portrait. He was my grandfather, painted by my mother, Nesta, while she was still at art school.

She taught me that the best artworks don’t just decorate a room, they tell stories, preserve memories and connect us to people and moments that matter.

That belief has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to shape everything I do at Fosse Gallery.

When I founded the gallery, my aim was simple: to bring the quality, care and excitement of a London gallery experience to people outside London. Today, as a fully online gallery, that vision has grown even further. Wherever you are, you can discover and collect exceptional contemporary British art from your own home.

We don’t notice rectangles.

They’re everywhere. Doors, windows, books, televisions, photographs…

Which is probably why a circle feels refreshing.

It changes the rhythm of a wall without ever asking to be the centre of attention.

Interior designers have known this for years. It’s why a round mirror so often appears in a room full of straight lines. Not because another mirror is needed, but because our eyes seem to crave the relief.

It’s funny how changing the shape can change the entire feeling of a room.
