a contemporary art collector or just love quality art, we have a wonderful selection of work by quality British painters including Paine Proffitt, Rob Pointon, Geoffrey Wynne RI, Ivan Taylor, Lucy Manfredi, Stephen Liddle, Ian Mood, Richard Fitton plus many more. We represent a number of female artists and you can view them in our Women Artists section of the website. We also deal with 20th century artworks including John Thompson, Arthur Hackney, Muriel Pemberton and many more, we are also the sole gallery working with the estate of Northern Artist Arthur Berry, and the estate of Norman Cope and have an extensive selection of their work on display. 📣 It’s that time again...the Three Counties Open Art Exhibition 2025 will be open for submissions from 14th April until 26th May.

🔗Until then, have a read of our submission guidelines see link in About Us, and if you need this in an alternative format please let us know.

🔷Key information 🔷
👉 FREE to enter
👉 You must be 16+
👉 It must be your own original work, created in the last 2 years
👉 You can only submit 1 piece of work per person or collective
👉 We will accept work falls under these categories: 2D Work (i.e. drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography etc), 3D work (i.e. sculpture), Contemporary Art Practice - Live/Performance Art and Installation
👉 You must be based in or connected to Staffordshire, Cheshire or Shropshire
👉 The exhibition will take place throughout August in Stoke-on-Trent during it’s centenary year
👉 Location will be announced very soon – keep your eyes peeled for an exciting new venue

Our Story

We specialise in the British 20th century modern art particularly from the Northern Art scene with a special emphasis on the Stoke School. Our fine art collection also includes the contemporary artists of the day making waves locally with a deserved growing national presence.

All of the artists displayed at Barewall have a connection with Stoke on Trent. All have a national presence or potential to have a presence beyond the region.

We also display collectable hand painted one off art pottery including pieces by Kate Collins, Lyn James, Anita Harris Art Pottery, Peter Harris, Burslem Pottery, Hayley Welch. We also stock a local gift range including Moorland Pottery, Hedgeberry Art Glass plus many more ceramic artists and designers. We also stock some of the top studio ceramic artists including Kevin Millward, Andrew Matheson , Lorraine Bates, June Ridgway and many others. We work closely with studio potters associations across the country and have been involved with helping fund raise for the newly opened Clay School which is located a short drive away at Middleport Pottery. All of the studio potters are connected to Stoke on Trent through their materials and glazes, all work with or demonstrate with local suppliers including PotClays, Valentines or Pottery Crafts. If you are an art collector or just love quality art, we have a wonderful selection of work by living quality British painters including Richard Fitton, Lucy Manfredi, Kate Collins, Ian Mood, Rob Pointon, Paine Proffitt, Rachel Grant, Ron Coleman, Jiri Borsky, Geoffrey Wynne RI, Ivan Taylor, Helen Tarr, David Brammeld and many more.

For those interested in collecting 20th century art we stock an extensive collection of the Stoke School including Arthur Berry, Enos Lovatt, Raymond Coxon, Muriel Pemberton RA, Jack Simcock, Reginald Haggar, Gordon Forsyth and Norman Cope and the ‘Potteries Primitive’ artist, Charles William Brown and many others.
