We specialise in the British 20th century modern art particularly from the Northern Art scene with a special emphasis on the Stoke School. Our fine art collection also includes the contemporary artists of the day making waves locally with a deserved growing national presence.
All of the artists displayed at Barewall have a connection with Stoke on Trent. All have a national presence or potential to have a presence beyond the region.
We also display collectable hand painted one off art pottery including pieces by Kate Collins, Lyn James, Anita Harris Art Pottery, Peter Harris, Burslem Pottery, Hayley Welch. We also stock a local gift range including Moorland Pottery, Hedgeberry Art Glass plus many more ceramic artists and designers. We also stock some of the top studio ceramic artists including Kevin Millward, Andrew Matheson , Lorraine Bates, June Ridgway and many others. We work closely with studio potters associations across the country and have been involved with helping fund raise for the newly opened Clay School which is located a short drive away at Middleport Pottery. All of the studio potters are connected to Stoke on Trent through their materials and glazes, all work with or demonstrate with local suppliers including PotClays, Valentines or Pottery Crafts. If you are an art collector or just love quality art, we have a wonderful selection of work by living quality British painters including Richard Fitton, Lucy Manfredi, Kate Collins, Ian Mood, Rob Pointon, Paine Proffitt, Rachel Grant, Ron Coleman, Jiri Borsky, Geoffrey Wynne RI, Ivan Taylor, Helen Tarr, David Brammeld and many more.
For those interested in collecting 20th century art we stock an extensive collection of the Stoke School including Arthur Berry, Enos Lovatt, Raymond Coxon, Muriel Pemberton RA, Jack Simcock, Reginald Haggar, Gordon Forsyth and Norman Cope and the ‘Potteries Primitive’ artist, Charles William Brown and many others.
