A big THANK YOU to all the wonderful stallholders and visitors who came along on Saturday to our Winter Makers Fair. You gave the venue a lovely atmosphere with plenty of chatting and laughter. It was lovely to see people buying from the makers and enjoying food and drink in the cafe too. Thank you!
For anyone who stepped inside our bottle oven for the first time, we really hope that you were delighted ... (it's a real treat isn't it!)

We have fab makers and artists stalls, a lovely café with hot food and drinks, and if you’ve never been inside the museum – here is your chance, it will not disappoint! There’s car parking on Hope Street and other carparks nearby.

Louise says, “Me and Daryl live in Hanford, and we have been running the business for a year now. We make all our own candles, snap bar gift sets and more. It's lovely to know that we can create a little bit of joy and relaxation for people.”

Cheryl Smith from Scot Hay, Newcastle-under-Lyme, goes by the name Chib – and is a magical illustrator and maker whose work is inspired by folklore.

“I create pen and ink illustrations inspired by folklore stories and the 3D pieces that I make are often inspired by the images in my illustrations. I work in Ceramics, Textiles, Wood and found materials... and I have recently started spinning too! I will be bringing my spinning wheel to demonstrate on the day. I have had stands at various events over the last few years. More recently I have been selling work at fairs in Yorkshire and Somerset which has expanded my client base.”

Meet Dappled Sky, a husband-and-wife creative duo - Deborah and Paul Nicklin, from Milton. Together they create colourful pottery and prints inspired by things they love - cycling, bottle ovens, and plenty of cats!

Paul says, “We individually make and hand paint all our pottery mugs, candle sticks and plant pots. Plus, we make fun limited-edition ranges of cat figures, The cats are all hand painted in high detail with gold and platinum lustres and depict inspirational musicians and artists. They always make people smile! We’ve enjoyed many craft fairs this year including Middleport Artisan Markets, Bolten Gate Arts Markets, plus Love Cats World Wide Cat Extravaganzas at Stafford, and Manchester, Liverpool and the NEC coming soon!”.

Meet them at the Makers Fair on Saturday, where alongside their ceramics there will also be hand printed lino cuts and greeting cards. Work ranges from £2.50 - £85

Meet Natalie Hancock of NHPottery. Natalie says, “I make my own ceramics, I like to use traditional designs as well as creating my own!” From a family of local ceramicists, Natalie from Clayton, is inspired by traditional Stoke-on-Trent pottery but recreates in her own style , often with a modern and satirical twist.

Maryellen Butler is “Born Stokie”. Maryellen’s coasters can already be sourced from our Dudson Shop, yet at the Winter Makers Fair she will be showcasing her larger artwork too. “I also reproduce a retail range of drink ware, travel mugs and lithographed bone china cups” says Maryellen, ideal for Christmas gifts.

Steven Howard is a local artist from Northwood, near Hanley. He paints delicate original art and faithfully reproduced prints that depict a nostalgic scene of Potteries life.

Steven says “I paint all the original artwork in oils and then produce limited edition giclée prints, unframed and framed, from the originals. To accompany the print, we also offer greeting cards to match the design” Steven’s sought after artwork can be bought in our Dudson Shop, yet at the fair you will also be able to meet him and see the artist at work. His prices range from £3 - £199 Steven is a member of the Bottle Oven Art Club and appeared at The Makers Markets. He has also featured in The Sentinel, donating funds from the proceeds of his NHS Print “The Rainbow”

Meet Caroline Kisielewicz of CheeKee Bee Ceramics. This Uttoxeter based potter produces hand-thrown stoneware and earthenware pottery, including bottle ovens, bowls, mugs, vases, and “wish” dishes (trinket dishes).

Caroline says, “They are brilliantly detailed and refined with a beautiful variety of colours to please the eye, I pay great attention to detail to ensure the highest quality products”. Caroline’s prices range from £5 to £50 allowing for all budgets.
