No hook, just 30 seconds of morning calm. It's feeling decidedly Autumnal today on campus.

In the Art Collection, were deep into 'sharpening pencils' mode as we are installing our new exhibitions ahead of the new academic year starting.

If we're a bit slower in replying to you this week, know it's because we are wrestling with vinyl or holding a painting!

This Summer, we took advantage of the Crush Hall being quieter and invited a group from Stirling & Clackmannanshire Carers to visit the Collection over four weeks and participate in some botanical inspired art workshops.

It was such a joy to meet, experiment together and share the Collection with the group. Swipe through to see some of the feedback from our participants.

We're excited to share that our Artist in Residence, will be taking part in CARBON–CHEMICAL–CURSE: Reclaiming the Photographic Commons at Fruitmarket, Edinburgh this month organised by the The Sustainable Darkroom
nd joined by local artist Scott Hunter.

As part of the event, Jess will discuss
her collaborative work with climate researchers, developed during her residency with us, and share insights into her upcoming film, supported by climate innovation projects HYDRONATION and FORTH2O, mentored by LUX Scotland. This will be followed by a preview of her collaborative film Collecting Light, made with Chloe Charlton and the youth community at Lyth Arts Centre in 2025.

The evening also includes film screenings, a panel discussion, a Q&A and drinks.

We're looking for an artist to join us for the year, as a member of the Collective, who is interested in connecting with students and our community and expanding culture on our campus.

On Friday, we were thrilled to 'officially' celebrate our Recognised Collection status with former curators, University staff, cultural colleagues, artists, students and friends. We were touched by all well wishes and support for our Nationally Significant Collection.

We're looking forward to using this honour, bestowed by Museums Galleries Scotland to shout more about the Collection and encourage more people to use it as the public resource, research catalyst and tool for wellbeing that we know it is!

Delighted to have some of Christine Borland's Common Groins on display in thr Crush Hall as part of our Art & Science exhibitions.

Using forms derived from mathematical models, these sculptures trace out three different kinds of architectural arch forms in space. The three different designs depicting intersecting arches known as 'groin vaults'. They have been made by combining traditional and contemporary materials and processes: 3D printing and threading with cordage made from nettle fibre.

The ceremonial silver is used for the formal events in the University and is positively shining in today's hot sun!
