What if Honda had built the ultimate SS50? 🤯

This extraordinary Honda SS250 is one of just two ever created by legendary engineer and custom bike builder Allen Millyard.

Starting life as a 1975 Honda SS50, Allen transformed it into something truly extraordinary by fitting a 2006 Kawasaki KX250F 250cc engine, complete with a handmade swingarm, custom cooling system and countless bespoke engineering touches.

A work of art with a special destination...

Jake from Bad Dog Paintwork, our resident motorcycle paint specialist here at the National Motorcycle Museum has created something very special for this weekend.

Known for his incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail, Jake has created this stunning custom-painted helmet especially for Woody, one of the organisers behind the fantastic Dave Day ride.

Featuring the iconic Dave Day logo, this one-off helmet is a fitting tribute to an event that brings thousands of motorcyclists together to celebrate friendship, community and the legacy of Dave Myers.

Woody will be presented with the helmet this weekend as riders make their way through the National Motorcycle Museum on their journey north.

A huge thank you to Jake for donating his time and talent to create something so special. We can't wait to see Woody's reaction! 👏

Step back to 1914 with this incredible archive footage of Triumph motorcycles leaving the Triumph Works factory, being put through their paces, and preparing for military service during the First World War.

Then, fast forward more than 110 years...

The motorcycle you see at the end of the video is a surviving 1914 Triumph Model A, complete with its original wicker sidecar, and you can see it on display here at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Every motorcycle in our collection has a story to tell, and in this new series we'll be bringing those stories to life by pairing rare archive footage with the machines that have survived to the present day.

🏍️ NEW INSIDE THE COLLECTION EPISODE 🏍️

Did you know one of Britain's biggest stars was also a passionate motorcyclist?

In the latest episode of Inside the Collection, John Oakes (Classic Bike Man) joins Museum Director James Hewing to take a closer look at a very special machine – a 1947 Norton International once owned by the legendary George Formby.

Best known for his films and ukulele performances, Formby was also a keen rider, and this beautiful post-war Norton tells a fascinating story. From its connection to the famous entertainer to the remarkable photograph of him collecting the bike from Norton's Bracebridge Street factory, this is a motorcycle packed with history.

As one of the first Norton Internationals built after the Second World War, it also offers a glimpse into the return of British motorcycle production and the craftsmanship that made Norton famous.

Meet Geoff Ansell, one of our dedicated Thursday volunteers at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Geoff has been volunteering with us since 2020, helping to care for our collection after lockdown and giving back to a Museum that has supported the Vintage Motor Cycle Club for many years.

A lifelong motorcyclist, Geoff has been riding since he was 15 and has a particular passion for Panther motorcycles. In fact, the bike pictured with him is a 1952 Panther, very similar to his own much-loved 1953 model that he still rides regularly today.

From fettling bikes and preparing machines for events to collecting and restoring donated motorcycles, Geoff plays an important role in helping us preserve Britain's motorcycling heritage.

What a sight!🚗💨
Last Thursday, we welcomed participants from Santa Pod Raceway's Corteco Street Weekend as they rolled into one of the event's official staging points.

Over 200 cars were taking part in this four-day motoring adventure, travelling between checkpoints across the country and collecting photographic proof along the way. From head-turning classics to modern performance machines and unique enthusiast builds, there was no shortage of automotive eye candy on display.
It was fantastic to see so many passionate owners and such an incredible variety of vehicles visit the Museum as part of their journey.

🏍️ Dave Day 2026 is coming to the National Motorcycle Museum

On Saturday 20th June, thousands of motorcyclists will once again take part in the incredible Dave Day ride-out in memory of Dave Myers, travelling from London's Ace Cafe to his hometown of Barrow-in-Furness. The National Motorcycle Museum is proud to be an official stop on the route, with riders expected to arrive from around 9.45am before departing at 10.15am.

Whether you're taking part in the ride, joining the convoy at the Museum, or simply coming along to watch this remarkable gathering of motorcycles, we'd love to see you.

A military Matchless with a difference...
At first glance, you might recognise this as a wartime Matchless G3. But look a little closer and you'll spot something rather special.

This 1940 machine served with the King's Own Malta Regiment and wears the remarkable "crazy paving" camouflage pattern used on military vehicles across the island during WWII.

Recently donated to the Museum by military motorcycle expert John Moore, it's a fantastic addition to our collection and a reminder of why the Matchless G3 was one of the most respected military motorcycles of the war.
