We would like to thank everyone who supported Seaham Lifeboat Day on 28th June. We are delighted to announce that a total of £1437.31 was raised on the day, and this will be donated to the R.N.L.I. The cuddly toy in our 'Name the Bear' fundraiser was 'Coral” and our furry friend has now gone off to a good home! We still have 6 unclaimed raffle prizes. All winners have been contacted so please call into the Heritage Centre with your tickets during our opening times (Friday - Sunday 10.30am - 3.30pm) to claim your prize - thank you!
Once again, thank you to everyone who supported us in any way to make this year's Seaham Lifeboat Day the huge success it was. Have a lovely Summer and we hope to see you again very soon!

23RD JUNE 2026 marks 13 years since the restored George Elmy Lifeboat returned home to Seaham Harbour.

Each year to mark the anniversary of her return, we hold our annual Seaham Lifeboat Day fundraiser in support of the RNLI. This year’s event will be held on Sunday 28th June 10am – 4pm, when the George Elmy Lifeboat will be moved out of the boathouse and onto Seaham Marina.

The RNLI Roadshow and ‘Swim Safe’ will be in attendance. The County Durham & Darlington Rescue and Fire Service and Seaham Coastguard will be paying us a visit (attendance subject to operational demands) and this year we welcome entertainment by the Seaham Sea Shanty Singers. East Durham Diving Club will be running their ever-popular boat trips around the harbour & along the coast (weather permitting). We will also be holding a ‘Name the Teddy’ fundraiser and a raffle.

All proceeds from the day will be donated to the RNLI, so please come along and join us and show your support for the fantastic work of the RNLI. You can also visit the East Durham Heritage Centre & Lifeboat Centre on Seaham Marina to learn more about our local heritage and the story of the Seaham Lifeboat Disaster in 1962. Our volunteers and local businesses on the Marina are waiting to welcome you!
