Amazing day of swords, crowns and Mary Queen of Scots at Sanquhar Tolbooth Museum yesterday. It was busy with over 140 people enjoying the museum, crafts and hands on history.
We have two more family friendly days planned. Thursday 6th (Once upon a Scotland - folklore themed crafts) and August 13th (Pirate Day!) at Dumfries Museum.
Don't forget we also have our hugely popular Treasure Hunt available at our six museums.
Be great to see you soon.

Join us for a fascinating evening with local author Gillian Hope as she discusses her book, The Sanquhar Boys and the Seaforths: A Personal Diary of Private John Hope.

Drawing on a remarkable personal diary, Gillian brings to life the experiences of Private John Hope and the stories of the Sanquhar men who served with the Seaforth Highlanders during wartime. Coming soon to Sanquhar Tolbooth Museum - Tudors at the Tolbooth! A day of living history, arts and crafts inspired by the 'Tudor' period aka the 16th century.
On August 1st, you can expect Mary Queen of Scots (who travelled through Sanquhar) and more!
We are aware that the Tudors were English monarchs and Mary was not a Tudor - this is just a convenient/fun/clear way to describe the early modern period (the event is primarily aimed at families and children).
