The National Poo Museum The National Poo Museum is the brainchild of inventor Daniel Roberts. He came up with the idea whilst walking in the countryside of his homeland Sweden.

Daniel noticed how wonderfully fascinated people of all ages where when he showed them some elk droppings he had found on his walk, "they seemed much more interested in the poo than the actual animal" noticed Dan. This give hims an idea. On his return to the UK he gathered together his artist friends from the arts collective called Eccleston George of which he is a member, and explained that he wanted to create the worlds first museum dedicated to the subject of poo! He then negotiated a 'poo deal' with the Isle of Wight Zoo.....some exotic poo for first exhibiting of the poo displays he makes. And so The National Poo Museum was born and is now under way with its inaugural exhibition called Poo @ The Zoo. You can see at starting this Easter 2016 at the Isle of Wight Zoo UK.

We canā€™t quite believe it, but weā€™re nearly at the end of our 2025 season with the National Poo Museum!

And what a cracking year itā€™s been. Almost 5,000 people have come through the doors to explore the brand-new version of the exhibition.

FAMILY FRIENDLY MURDER MYSTERY comes to Department, Ryde this Friday!

Something smells suspicious at the National Poo Museumā€¦ and we need your help to crack the case.

The museum cleaner, Mrs Deidree Dollops, has met a rather unfortunate end, and thereā€™s no shortage of suspicious characters lurking around. Was it her bitter ex-husband? A local councillor with a grudge against the museum? A reporter digging for dirt? Or could someone have had their eye on a particularly valuable piece of poo?

Join us at Department for a family-friendly, interactive murder mystery packed with outrageous suspects, suspicious alibis, terrible puns and plenty of poo-themed chaos.

Follow the clues, question the suspects and uncover their secrets as you try to work out who committed the Turder before the night is over.

Everyone seems to be hiding something. Thereā€™s Ā£1,000 in mysterious cash, a suspiciously torn notebook, questionable museum exhibits and even reports of someone wandering around with a can of petrolā€¦

But which clues matter, and which are just a load of old poo?

Itā€™s silly, hilarious and guaranteed to be a stinking good time for the whole family.

BIG NEWS! This August, Department is OPEN on Sundays!

Join us every Sunday from 10am-4pm. Whether youā€™re after a delicious slice of cake, a refreshing cocktail on our roof terrace, or a family day out, weā€™ve got you covered.

The National Poo Museum will be open, our shop will be full of brilliant local gifts and treats, and our public toilets (supported by Ryde Town Council ) will also be open throughout August.

And thatā€™s not allā€¦ weā€™ve got a few special surprises planned to make Sundays at Department even more memorable.
