The Penwith Gallery is home to the Penwith Society of Arts and was founded as a tribute to the artist, Borlase Smart, a person who believed in promoting and encouraging artists and their art. A list of past members reads like a "Whose Who" of the British Moderns, Hepworth, Nicholson, Heron, Wynter, Berlin, Lanyon, Frost; names that made St Ives a true tour de force in the world of art. Set in the artistic heart of St Ives on Back Road West, the gallery is now getting a well earned make over. The gallery and society's aim is to create a vibrant community hub where artists and the public can feel connected to the history of St Ives whilst playing a part in shaping its future. Gallery space is available to rent for individual or group exhibitions.

After the success of our 2026 Young Penwith Artist Flora Forshall, we are delighted to invite applications from Cornwall-based artists aged 35 and under for a month-long solo or joint exhibition in the Studio Gallery during Summer 2027, mentored and supported by the Penwith Society of Arts.

Young Penwith Artists was launched in the Summer of 2022 with invited artists Sophie Fraser and Alice Ellis-Bray.

EXHIBITION DATES:
- Curating and Hanging work (alongside Penwith Society of Arts Member): Tuesday 20th July 2027
- Opening Event: Friday 23rd July 2027, 5.30PM onwards
- Last day of Exhibition: Saturday 21st August 2027
- Take down of Exhibition: Monday 23rd August 2027
