Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet too many people don't seek the help they need. We work with many organisations, both statutory and voluntary, who provide mental health support to our Armed Forces community.

So, if you need to talk during #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and beyond, call us on 0131 550 1560 or e-mail [email protected] for confidential support and guidance.

This week is #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and the theme is nature. Being in nature is known to be an effective way of tackling mental health problems and of protecting our wellbeing. So, if you're feeling a little overwhelmed, stop to listen to the birdsong, smell the freshly cut grass, or take a walk in the park and notice any trees, flowers or animals nearby. #ConnectWithNature.

Don't forget Veterans' Gateway offers a 24hr helpline for our Armed Forces community. If you're struggling, call 0808 802 1212 or text 81212.

You can also contact our Veterans Community Support Service by emailing [email protected]

On this week in 1915, 106 years ago, Lt. Col. John McCrae, a Canadian physician and a soldier, penned his now famous poem, "In Flanders Fields," while sitting in the back of an ambulance after the funeral of his friend. His inspiration was taken from the memory of Alexis Helmer, but also from noticing how quickly poppies would grow next to new graves on the Ypres Salient.

Many happy returns to us!
In 1802 we were made ‘Royal’ by George III on a recommendation by Admiral of the Fleet John Jervis ‘for meritorious service’.

Providing the world with the finest amphibious capability, and finest military bands (who also deliver many other roles) ever since!

Academics from Northumbria University are looking for women whose partners have died in the UK Armed Forces, or after their service, to take part in new research into loneliness and social isolation. The project aims to understand military widows’ experiences of social isolation and loneliness, to identify the services available to military widows and to examine their unmet needs. Today is ANZAC Day, marking the 106th anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand landing at Gallipoli.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help please. I have had a customer in this morning trying to re-new his membership, however the Isle of Bute is not recognised & the website is sending him to Carlisle branch. Could someone tell me who he needs to contact. Thank you - The MiliTea Base
We shall remember them......
The school service is as follows, The proposed meeting Friday is a rehearsal for Monday. It is also being recorded to show during Monday service. All interested members to be at school for no later than 10.30. on Friday. Full time line; Friday and Monday as above. Monday the Bell will ring at 11.10 pupils go to class, we go to Hub for coffee! Then from 11.25 to 12.15 we will be in Social Subjects with the whole of first year, this is when they will hear the stories and be recorded.
Meeting tomorrow at the 292 club, membership renewals due.
Last nights Standard bearer training at the army cadet hut went well. The cadets showed great enthusiasm even thought we conducted the training outdoors in the cold, it was feared the low ceiling of the hut and the height of the standards would have seen 90% of the internal lighting obliterated within minutes. However, the cold did not deter them and they performed really well despite some being half the size of the poles!
It is with great sadness that we will say goodbye to a very dear friend and great supporter of the British Legion, Phyllis Ward. The service will be held this Saturday at St Andrews Church at 11:00. Can I ask as many members as possible to attend suited and booted to pay our respects to a much respected member of our community.
