The South Hampshire Historical Aviation Society

The South Hampshire Historical Aviation Society We are a small group of aviation enthusiasts located in the Southampton area. For more info please visit our website.

We hold our meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at the Romsey Working Men's Conservative Club. Our society was founded in 1980 by Wing Cmdr. David Bennett AFRAES and Leslie Loader. It is open to anyone with an interest in aviation and although the name states “Historical” we try to cater for all aspects of aviation. Our activities are mainly concerned with having guest speakers at our mon

thly meetings talking on any aspects of aviation. We visit RAF stations, air shows & museums etc that have an aviation theme. We also have a few social functions throughout the year including our own fly-in.

Well they said there was stormy weather ahead this week...

Hawker Tempest II MW763/HA586 G-TEMT marked as PR533, as flown by 33 Squadron at RAF in Malaya in the 1950s. First flight of a Tempest in around 68 years we believe? Congratulations to all at Anglia Aircraft Restorations!

A sight you don’t see everyday! A seaplane landed in the Carrick Roads today, adding to the variety of craft to be seen in Falmouth Bay.

Our Foxy Lady is coming back home to Bournemouth thanks to Bournemouth Aviation Museum .

Sea V***n XP924, G-CVIX 'Foxy Lady' since her accident in 2017 has been based within the Navy Wings collection at Yeovilton.
Though they did a sterling effort trying to raise the 2 million that was needed to return her to flight, sadly nobody has come forward.
So the decision to give somebody else the opportunity to care for her in her golden years was made.
Bournemouth Aviation Museum have come forward as her saviours to allow people like you and I the chance to connect with her and marvel at her majesty.
So now the challenge begins....

Because of the logistics of transporting such a complex aircraft on the road, costs are high.
We will need £40000 to bring her home and we would like you all to be part of her final journey.

Announcement will be made shortly to give you the opportunity to make this happen, so watch this space.

I don't know about all of you, but I could hug them all at the museum for making this happen!
