What a wonderful few days at my garden studio — thank you so much to everyone who came to visit. It was so lovely to meet you all, see your photos, hear your stories, and chat commissions and art techniques. I am so pleased some of you purchased some art too and am looking forward to doing an iPet of such a cute Scotti pup! Hopefully a landscape commission also! And not only this, you helped me raise £441 for St John’s Church, Farley Chamberlayne where I first started doing Open Studio!! A great effort. Today is the birthday of George Stubbs, born Liverpool on 25 August 1724. The greatest equine painter who ever lived spent 18 months dissecting horses in Lincolnshire to perfect his understanding of their anatomy before he ever picked up a brush in earnest! Dedication doesn’t cover it! Although I have had the pleasure in painting many a horse I definitely don’t cut the comparison but dedication apart from dissecting is definitely there - a small selection from over my 14 yrs in business.
