If anyone wants to have a painting or an iPad drawing (iPet) by Christmas you need to make your orders by the end of October as paintings in particular take time. iPets too as although they are quicker to complete the artwork the printing also can take a week at least to do, then there’s the framing too!!

Vouchers also available if time runs out.

Or an original peice of artwork already painted, ie not a commission and landscapes too or prints of original artwork onto coasters or trivet at a more affordable gift, are available to view at my studio in Awbridge, Romsey.

Another week to go for Romsey Art Group Autumn Exhibition. There has been some wonderful feedback from visitors, several of whom have commented that the standard of the work just keeps getting better and better. What a lovely compliment to all the exhibiting artists! What’s also really encouraging is that the Autumn Exhibition is doing better than last year, and the people coming through our doors are buying so would be lovely to keep that going 👍

Here also is a recent iPet I can now reveal, gorgeous little dog for a networking colleagues friend ❤️. Also done a wonderful Ragdoll cat that I’ll post soon. Something very different exhibited at Romsey Art Group. Go see as so much more too. Romsey Art Group

On this day in 1873, Sir Edwin Landseer died in London — the greatest animal painter of the Victorian era, favourite artist of Queen Victoria, and the man behind the bronze lions in Trafalgar Square. His paintings of dogs, horses and stags set a standard for emotional truth in animal art that still resonates. The black Newfoundland dogs he painted with such devotion inspired a whole breed name. People often ask me how the commission process works — what happens from the moment you send me a photo to the moment you unwrap the finished portrait. So here it is, step by step. https://animalmagicart.com/pet-portrait-commissions/Spoiler: Is it simpler than you might think?…… mostly! I’ve chosen this recent commission that’s such a good example of the commission process - not only able to create on holiday and not in my studio, but create something different to the normal:- communication with the client is key, saving different versions in case the client changes their mind if an iPet, giving information about the process up front - timing, cost, detail required (colour, important marks, head study, whole body, including collar, excluding head collar) and finally proofing process and levels of adjustment- this is very different whether iPet or Painting. It all sounds more than simple I hear you say, but practice always makes perfect and having been taking commissions for 14 years now these details required come 2nd to none and the end product is always a special moment. The value of art isn’t always appreciated, the time it takes, creativity in transferring the character to 2D, creativity in changing styles and colours and still maintaining character and emotion. I’m very honoured every time for a client to entrust their confidence in me.
