Whitwell And Reepham Station

Whitwell And Reepham Station A Heritage Railway with Steam and Diesel engines. The Sidings Bar can provide a full lunch menu, pizzas, BBQ or snacks everyday. A Museum is also on site.
(124)

Our continuing aims are to restore the Station to its former glory circa 1930/40's, relaying track and sidings, acquiring rolling stock and add more items to our museum relating to the Station and The Midland & Great Northern Railway. Our Sidings Bar and Function Room is available for a quick bite to eat, or maybe you would like to have a lunchtime meal.

Here we are again writing about changes due to Covid. Who would’ve thought this year would’ve been like this.

Firstly would like to thank all our customer, volunteers, members and staff for all your support this year through everything, we wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you.

Secondly we are having to change our opening times to reflect the second lockdown from the 5th November.
So as of the 5th November we will no longer open during the week.
We will however OPEN for takeaways only on the weekends. Times for this would be 10-dusk. We will still be able to do takeaway bacon rolls and burgers too.
However these are takeaways only meaning the seating area and toilet areas will remain closed.

Parking is allowed on site to access marriotts way for your walks/runs/exercise but this is only at the weekends.

We are hoping to open as normal from the 5th December but this is down to government decisions. (We understand that the 2nd is meant to be the end of lockdown but we are allowing time to move everything back to being table service)

Keep safe everyone and hopefully see you on weekends and back again visiting in December! πŸ₯“πŸ”πŸš‚β˜•οΈ

We have been awarded a grant from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund #HereForCulture and this is to help with tools for our workshop to help maintain our rolling stock, a new system for scanning historical documents and allowing people online to access them, and the grant will also help provide a safe play area for the children. Thanks @dcms, @HeritageFundUK and @HistoricEngland.

Saturday 26th September update.

We still have no power on our site, unless power comes back on this morning we will have to remain closed. We do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and will keep you all updated on when we have power again on site.
Look forward to seeing you all again soon

25/09/2020

Due to the high wind causing a power outage on our site we have decided to close early today. Power isn’t due back on for at least another 4 hours and as we were closing at 6pm tonight we decided to make the hard decision to close earlier then planned.

We apologise to anyone who was planning on visiting us today and hope to see you all again soon.

We should be back open as normal tomorrow from 10am πŸ₯“πŸΊπŸ”πŸš‚

18/09/2020

Dear Customers.

Today (Friday 18th September) we will be closing from 6pm we will not allow anybody else on site from 5:45pm, the gates will be closed at 6:15pm, the Kitchen will close at 5pm.

As the new rule of more than 6 people meeting is against the law, we feel it is unfair to put pressure on our Staff, the Police and other enforcement groups to help maintain and educate people in how to go out in this new restrictions.

We have had discussions with the Police and Broadland Council, and as with bikes gathering here tonight with the possibility of mixing in groups of more than 6, we fell it is safer for everybody that we close early tonight, the Police have already said they will be on site enforcing this new law and we do not want to put our customers in a possible awkward position of getting a fine, or indeed if it is found we have not put enough protections in place for our customers then we may be fined as well, this will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

We apologise if this will cause you any issues, but with the current position of the Virus and Government advice we think this is the best thing to do.

As some of you know over lockdown we decided to do a job we have been trying to do for a few years but have never been closed long enough to do. We thought that some of you who haven’t been able to come and see for yourselves what we have done might want to see the new sidings function room. The photos in the picture shows all the different bars we have had in the sidings room. I think it’s safe to say everyone done an amazing job. We hope you think so too.

FRIDAY NIGHTS

We are now open on Fridays till 8pm for drinks and 7pm for food. Most other nights we will close at 5pm.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, We expect all our customers to perform social distancing measures and follow the rules and guidance set out at each table which is based on government guidance.

We have 25 outside tables and 8 inside tables.

Food orders will only be delivered to tables with table numbers on, we would prefer people to order by using our ordering app β€œRound” which can be downloaded for iPhone or Android in the respective online shops, you can do this at home. We do appreciate not everybody is phone β€˜savvy’ so we also have 2 order points, on the station platform by Marriott’s Way and in the all new Sidings Bar and Function Room.

Toilets are operational but we have reduced the capacities on the gents and ladies, and are strictly limited to 2 people at once. The disabled toilet is also available for anybody to use, there is also a one way system to follow for the toilets, to ensure social distancing if there is a queue.

We prefer card payments, but if you only have cash, please use the exact money, as we cannot give change.

We are trying to keep all our customers and staff safe so there may be delays with food ordering and delivery, so please bear with us, but we will adapt as the government relaxes further Covid restrictions.

03/07/2020

As you are all aware pubs can open from the 4th July, we can confirm we are in this category and will be open from 10am tomorrow. However we have to follow the guidelines set out by the government so we kindly ask if you could help us by doing what you can to help protect not only yourselves but our staff/volunteers and other visitors.

Please remember indoor gatherings are limited to member of 2 households. Outside gatherings are limited to members of 2 households or groups of up to 6 people from any households

Please remember if you are feeling unwell please do no visit us, stay home, get better and visit us when you can enjoy it safely

Here is a list of guidelines we have put in place

πŸš‚ download and use an app called Round to order food and drink if possible. You can pay via this app and your drinks will be brought to your table

πŸš‚ orders can be taken from either the platform or inside the sidings function room. If you are a family please only send one member of the household in to order, please queue outside if busy, help will be on hand to bring drinks out if you need too

πŸš‚ keep with in your social distance groups, up to 6 people from your household or social bubble

πŸš‚ wash hands regularly and use antibacterial spray when entering into the sidings and toilets

πŸš‚ DO NOT move any tables as these have been spaced to 2m apart, this includes outside tables too

πŸš‚ if you sit inside we need to take your contact details for the NHS track and trace system

πŸš‚ please keep children supervised and keep them with your group our train set and soft play won’t be out for them to play with.

πŸš‚ our station house is still out of bounds, if you require anything from the shop please ask a member of staff who will help you out

πŸš‚ please follow and comply with our signage.

πŸš‚ our honesty book shop is still closed

πŸš‚ no train ride until further notice

Hope to see you all very soon! And thank you in advance for helping us all stay safe πŸš‚πŸ·πŸ”πŸ₯“πŸ°πŸŸπŸ¦β˜•οΈ

WHITWELL & REEPHAM RAILWAY 2020 STEAM RALLY ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Steam Rally team are sad to report that we will not be holding our Steam Rally this year due to Covid-19. We have gone through all of the government guidelines and we have decided we will not be able to maintain the social distancing guidelines that are in place for the amount of people who normally attend, exhibit or trade.

HOWEVER, we are pleased to announce that we have set our date for next years Steam Rally of July 31st and August 1st 2021.

We will be contacting all trade and exhibits in the next few days to see if they would like to carry over their booking to next year. This also gives us more time to get extra trade and exhibits in to make 2021 the best rally yet.

Thank you for your understanding in this decision and look forward to seeing you all at our Steam Rally next year.
