I’ve been waiting to share the news! I had the pleasure of welcoming Dom and the Flabbergast TV production company to my workshop recently to film a new series called ‘I Made It At Market’. We had a brilliant day, and I have no idea what will make the editing cut so I will be watching on Thursday 9th April with bated breath!

Experiences last a lifetime, so how about a workshop experience as a gift to your loved ones this Christmas? I offer two workshops, one to make three marbled copper lilies, the other to make a hummingbird and a dragonfly plant decoration. Didn’t do my usual Monday post yesterday, was a bit busy…..

I’m now flame painting 180 copper maple leaves in 4 sizes for a one metre sphere. The aim is to develop an autumnal colour to each leaf, although every one will be different. I never tire of watching the colours emerge and choosing when to stop!

The tree of life is finished and ready to be delivered to my client. It’s designed to sit proud of the wall, so will create shadows as the light changes. What do you think?

I used to solder copper to copper, but have advanced to fusion welding, a really satisfying process which gives a cleaner result. The tree of life once finished will be a 2.5D shape ready to go on a wall and cast shadows behind. It’s a symbol of renewal and regeneration!

Although this structure will be hidden under water, it’s crucial I get the ‘engineering’ right so the art above water can ‘shine’.

This piece is more time consuming than it looks, and quite a challenge to get the spacing correct. The next job is to colour and lacquer it, then it will be finished. A real visual pleaser!

No rest for the wicked! I may be camping but work continues on a new commission piece which I can make up after this short break. I’ll show you the finished article when it’s done
