We'd like to welcome back Dan Chapple to 45 Southside Gallery

We're so pleased to have a new collection of his raku ceramics.
The pots are thrown on the wheel, raku fired and adorn distinctive crackle glazes. Dan draws his inspiration from classic Grecian forms, as well as oriental pottery traditions. Contrasting light and dark, with shiny, satin and matt, layering on slips and glazes to achieve varying degrees of crackle finish.

You can find Dan's work and more ceramics available on our online gallery here https://www.45southside.co.uk/product-category/ceramics/

This summer 45 Southside Gallery be exhibiting a selection of work from Sarah Drury, a recent graduate of 3D Design Crafts with a degree from Arts University Plymouth. Sarah received multiple awards at her graduate showcase including 45 Southside Galleries' Graduate Showcase Award. There was a high standard of 3D graduate work to select from but Sarah's stood out conceptually and aesthetically. "Manufactured Illness" is a concept-driven jewellery collection created as a form of gentle protest, intended to spark conversations about the significant public health risks of 'forever chemicals' (PFAS: per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). These substances accumulate in our blood and accelerate the onset of severe diseases, including cancers.
By manipulating scale, Sarah transformed 3D-scanned sink traps into small jewellery components using computer-aided design, symbolising the contamination of drinking water by these substances. Additionally, a model of a nasal cannula, used for treating acutely ill patients, was lost wax cast to symbolise the health crisis unfolding.

Sarah is a talented artist who is sure of a bright future, her work is beautiful and thought provoking.

Every once in a while the clay misbehaves for even the most experienced potters, but like a pro Tim Gee just cleans up, picks up a new ball of porcelain and produces something lovely.

We have a beautiful collection of Tim Gee's porcelain boxes and pots in the gallery and on our website shop.
