The weather is turning, and it strikes us as a rather good time to visit your favourite local museum! Especially as you've only got a week left. We will be closing for the end of the season on 31 October. There's so much to see, including a very special exhibition telling the story of Pickering photographer Sydney Smith.

We're loving the autumn colours, but it does mean you've not got long left to visit us. We close for the end of the season on 31 October.

Did you know, you've got under TWO WEEKS left to come and see our fabulous museum before we close for the winter on 31 October?

Come and explore more than 20 galleries, including a forge, printmaker's workshop, barber's, village store and gentleman outfitters, as well as our very special exhibition sharing the story of photographer Sydney Smith. But don't delay!

It's time to say an ENORMOUS THANK YOU to so many people! Starting with the brilliant Pickering WI and Beck Isle Museum volunteers for making and serving a fabulous selection of cakes all weekend long!

The money raised provides incredible support to the museum, helping us preserve a very special collection and keep the museum going for our lovely town - and we honestly can't thank you all enough. Our museum is almost entirely run by volunteers and we think they do a cracking job every single day.

The cakes went down a treat! A big thanks if you joined us to purchase them this weekend too!

We're heading towards Pickering 1940s Weekend at a gallop - and looking forward to brilliant volunteer John's specially themed walks! He'll be running them daily - this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Drop by the museum to find out more and book your space.

A highlight of the tour will be the chance to hear the story of artist Rex Whistler and the Welsh Guards who were stationed up near Pickering Castle.
