A huge thank you to everyone who helped Cornwall Contemporary celebrate our 20th birthday yesterday! I think Penzance was cleaned out of flowers, I received so many! You were all so kind (special mention to Emma McClure who baked the most delicious cake!) thank you to all our wonderful artists and friends who popped by to help us celebrate, it was lovely remembering all the wonderful moments we’ve shared over the last 20 years.
Here is Sophie Carter’s beautiful painting Oceans Song - deeply meditative and peaceful and reminding me of the swim I had after work yesterday with special friends 💙

Cornwall Contemporary is 20 years old today!

I am so grateful to all of the talented artists who have exhibited with me since that first day I tentatively opened the door on 1st September 2006, its been a privilege to work alongside you and I’m still thrilled that I get to show your wonderful work in my gallery. To the CC family - SJ, Tim, Emma and Jess (and Dom - husband/ framer/ expert picture wrapper) you are the best team I could wish for.

The biggest thanks to all our wonderful customers around the world, who have supported us all these years. Whether you’ve bought a treasured piece for your home, waved to us as you’ve walked past, liked and followed us on social media, been to our private views, artist talks, book launches or just popped in for a chat, your enthusiasm and your love for our artists, is so special to us all here at Cornwall Contemporary.

Over the last 20 years we have staged 221 exhibitions, welcomed thousands of visitors, made incredible memories, sent paintings to hundreds of homes and businesses around the world, gone from two floors of gallery space to four floors and every inch of the gallery has witnessed laughter, connection, conversation, creativity and inspiration.

Thank you.

I have bubbly and cake to share with you all day today and really look forward to celebrating with you all! 🌟🥂🎂

I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome ceramic artist Caitlin Wilson to Cornwall Contemporary. We’ve had a flurry of red dots for her charming, narrative tiles, plates and vessels since popping them in our 20th Anniversary exhibition online so a lot of these already have homes to go to - one vase is even heading off to 🇺🇸 soon. But do have a look at her work on our website and in the gallery - it is all delightful and at this rate they won’t be around for long.

The second artist that we are delighted to welcome to Cornwall Contemporary is Alice Mumford. Many of you will already be familiar with Alice’s extraordinarily beautiful, light-filled still life paintings and I’m thrilled that we have a number of her works in our new exhibition which celebrates 20 years of Cornwall Contemporary.

“I come from a long line of women painters where painting was as commonplace as eating or listening to the radio. An everyday thing. As a child my family lived and worked in many different countries. With every new place we went, my mother made a sense of belonging and beauty with the things she took with her. Particularly with the way the meal table was laid. Different coloured tablemats, plates and napkins always there to welcome us. Perhaps this is where my love of still life comes from.”
