Visitor Update.

For anyone wishing to visit the village from Sunday 5th to Saturday 11th November, please be aware that the village will be closed to the public for a private booking during this period but we will be open again as normal from the 12th November.

15/10/2023

Good evening everyone.

It is with great sadness that we have to say we will be unable to hold a Halloween event this year. The external company that ran the event for the last two years won't be with us this year and given the short notice we have decided not to try and put on an event this year, but instead we will start planning for next year, when we can hopefully hold a free Halloween event ourselves.

We hope you all have a fantastic Halloween and manage to get to some of the other great events that are being held around the Vale.

29/09/2023

Our next Villager Day will be on Sunday 8th October. We will have peasants in the cottages demonstrating various medieval crafts, skills and cooking, as well as sheep and goats.

We hope to see you all there.

04/09/2023

For those planning to visit the village tomorrow, Tuesday 5th September, please be aware that the village will be closed in the afternoon to the public from 12:00 as we have a wedding taking place. We will be open again from Wednesday 6th as normal.

29/08/2023

For all those wishing to visit the village this week, the event on Thursday has been cancelled, so the village will be open from 10:00 to 4:00 as normal.

See you all there 😀

27/08/2023

If you are planning to visit the village this week, please be aware that on Thursday 31st August, we have an outside theatre performing at the village and entry is by ticket only, so the village will be closed for the day to visitors. We will be open from Friday again as normal.

Also, as this coming Sunday is the first Sunday in September, we are holding our Villager Day event again. Come along to meet our villagers and animals from 10:00 to 4:00.

02/08/2023

Come visit the Cosmeston medieval villagers this Sunday the 6th August.
Come ☔or ☀️ we will be here along with our goats and sheep ready to welcome you.

Come and see us go about our day to day tasks and learn about what life was like in the 14th century.

18/07/2023

New to the page, to enable our lovely visiters to plan days out at the village, we will have a regular post on the page, to let you all know about villager days and any closures or school visits, if you would like to visit us on quieter days.

What's on in July: -

For anyone looking to visit the village this week, we will be closed on Wednesday 19th to public all day as there will be filming in the village, but we will be open again Thursday as normal.

We have an additional villager day this month on Sunday 23rd July between 10:00 and 4:00, to coincide with the Penarth Open Garden Scheme, with all proceeds going to the Children's Society.

Firstly, we would like to apologise for the lack of posts over the last year, but we have been incredibly busy here in the village. Improving our gardens, buildings and outside areas, all with the purpose of becoming a self sufficient, working medieval village.

And if that wasn't enough, we have also introduced a monthly "Villager Day". So now on the first Sunday of every month you can see a working village, complete with villagers going about they daily tasks, such as baking, spinning and weaving, as well as sheep and goats.

Best of all, the village is now free entry, with a small car park charge being all you need to pay to visit not just the village but the whole park as well. The charge is £1 an hour or £5 for all day.

Why not check out this review of the village that was done recently by "The Dudgies". They are a family based in Barry Island that have a regular vlog which they put on YouTube. The link to their review is below: -

Today we have had our first Duke of Edinburgh session in the village. These sessions will be running every Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00, we currently have space available on these sessions. If you would like further information about volunteering with us as part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, then please send us a message.

Today's session saw our volunteers repairing the wattle and daub walls on our herbalists hut. Just one of the fun and yet educational activities you can be involved in as a Duke of Edinburgh volunteer.

*COVID RELATED POST - Please read to the end of the post*

It is with great sadness that we have to postpone this year's Halloween event until next year. This is in response to lockdown measures concerning outdoor events.

Don't worry though, we will be running the event next year and it will be even bigger and better than before!

We would also like to remind you that we are still open for Covid safe audio tours only and in line with current lockdown restrictions, only to residents of the Vale. We also ask that while inside any of the village buildings or museum, you wear a face mask.

We would love to invite you to the village and keep putting smiles on your faces, especially at this difficult time. So if you would like to keep updated with the latest information regarding the village including opening times, activities, events, etc., then please like and share our page.

In the meantime, here are a few photos from last years Halloween event.
